Willen
Thanks! I should jave clarified that those things, the upper fin and the flamethrower canisters are still primer colored. All the dark grey will be black. I feel the red should shift towards orange, what do you guys think?

All the dark grey will be black. I feel the red should shift towards orange, what do you guys think? If you mean highlight the red into the orange range then I agree. If you mean replace the red with a base orange color then I would say no (and I like Orange). I think the red works well with the other colors and provides a point of interest as well as contrast. I would not want the red to go darker though. If any of that make sense.
Willen
Makes sense, and that was what I meant (highlighting red to orange-ish hues).

MonkeySloth
That sucks. I'm hoping to start back up this week as things have been a bit of a mess down in my paint area--I need to seriously declutter after Bones 2 and some other stuff so I have room to paint. Got a picture of all my currently owned stuff minus the bones dumpster, two buildings and some scatter that hasn't been assembled yet. I got the crates and satellite dish (thing in the bottom right) primed but ran out of shellac so I'll have to pick up more the week. Warmill is running a great sale over the next 2 weeks and a buddy and I are looking at ordering to hit the free shipping limit. Once that's done I should have enough terrain for the time being as I'm wanting to use all my Mantic terrain for a Paradsio board but won't start on that till the house is done--so May sometime.
Willen
Sympathy like, Willen :( Ah noooo. It takes real courage to go back to the beginning. That sucks. Thanks guys. I thought, to PanO with it, I will airbrush black to grey and edge-highlight and be done with the black. Giraldez gets away with it and I could use practice in airbrush control (I was all cocky after the zombie). BUT I tried some masking liquid I had bought to preserve the reds and other clear parts... and then I could NOT take it off for my life. It embedded fiercely into the nooks, shearing and tearing... I ended up using more damaging tools to pick it out and scrapping paint off, at that point it was just better and cleaner to start fresh. I am worried it has a lot of areas difficult to reach because of my conversion work . Using the tootbrush in such small spaces is difficult. Does Acetone eat into Gorilla Glue and/or GS? MS, great terrain you have there! Are you getting more tall buildings? Edited March 16, 2015 by Willen
ub3r_n3rd
Does Acetone eat into Gorilla Glue and/or GS? Yes. Any time I've put a figure that's been glued/gaps filled into a cleaning solution it will break down the bonds and I have to re-do it. The same will go for acetone, it's actually recommended to use it to remove superglue as it's that strong.

I left it to sit 24hs in the glass cleaner, which is very soft and I doubt it will do anything to the glue or GS (it is basically isopropyl alcohol). Problem is the "junk". I might need to go slow and patiently with the Dremel and a soft brush to clean it completely

One thing that can help cleaning off the gunk is getting old tooth brushes and trimming hairs off of them so there's a smaller, more controllable, part as opposed to just a full brush. I have two for this, and weathering: one full, one that's only got a few hairs on the end of the brush and the rest have been cut off. As for buildings--I'm going the stackable route I think so if I want tall I can have tall but not having to buy things that can only be used one way. I have a buddy that's going in for this: but I'm looking at maybe several of these ends you see here as those are 3 different buildings you can stack how you want: Edited March 16, 2015 by MonkeySloth
Willen
Those are some SERIOUS cool buildings! My problem with the toothbrush is the size of the head, getting it inside the ammo feed loop, between the legs, under the right arm... tight spaces. But now that you mention it, perhaps I can trim the head and attach it to something else (like a brochette stick) and do a smaller stiff brush. Sometimes things don't go according to plan First thing i thought of was, "Oh so Willens got his miniature in a Bacta tank for healing!" :) Great minds think alike and all that; when my wife asked "What is that?" I actually said "A bacta tank" I had to explain what a bacta tank was, but hey, it was funny in my head!
MonkeySloth
That's not a bad idea. A small pipe cleaning brush would also work.
robinh
pipe cleaners are great for small areas which just needs some gentle rubbing instead of a hard scrub!
