Dear CC, you could've just pushed your estimated shipping dates back by a couple of months.

People would've been none the wiser (unless you already promised them a delivery date), and it would have avoided all the criticism you're facing now, Plus, unless your estimates were questionable to begin with, it should've given you enough breathing room. (And did I mention even missing a KS delivery date isn't all that bad? Miniatures fans seem pretty forgiving of anyone who communicates better than CMON...)

Your Facebook assumption a delay of a launch is far better than a delay of a shipment? Wrong.

I think CC also wants to have the redone concept renders of the two minis they pulled for redesigns ready for the kickstarter launch.

I'm also betting they're having a rethink of their pricing structure. Probably a good idea for them to take the time to rethink the overall organization of the kickstarter. They'll need time for that.

It also depends on the degree of delay,

a month or two is unlikely to matter in a big way,

but a longer one can really hurt (eg Relic Knights), and fulfilment bit by bit would be a real disaster (look at the moans from people as soon as folk start getting stuff in numbers, they take it very personally when theirs hasn't arrived yet)

and we don't know how booked up the caster might be

Over on the Creature Caster Facebook page they're asking how folks would prefer their dragons:

-With howdah and straps. (As originally rendered)

-With a bit of armour and straps. (To cover up where the howdah would have been)

-Au naturel. (Would mean a complete resculpt and may not make it into the KS)

So head on over if you have any feelings on dragon nekkidity.

When I first saw the pitch video, my biggest two grievances were "Those dragons look awesome, except for the saddles," and "I wish I could get smaller stuff that looked this awesome."  If he addresses both of these points, then the delay will have been worth it.

Lots of respect for a company that is willing to take a step back and say, "no, we're not ready yet," rather than rushing headlong into a project when there are already fulfillment concerns and potential backer feedback that needs to be addressed.

Yeah, I can definitely wait for high-quality minis like these. As long as I can afford them, that is...
