Yeah, I really quite like the warrior and spider demons but placing such large minis on a 50x50mm base make them seem very "posed". If they were regular models of that size and I was basing them they'd be on 120mm rounds at least.

I'm still considering getting one or the other as the EB price is pretty good for such large resin figures, but I'm still undecided.

What happened with Ultraforge, anyway?

I have several (most) of their figures - and some are truly outstanding. (The tree woman in particular - one of the main villains for a 1750s Pathfinder game.)

The Creature Caster miniatures... look good, but are way beyond my price range.

Even at these prices the dragons look fantastic, and I might have given in and bought the Mountain Dragon - but those saddles kill the models for me. Even if they put in an armor plate as an alternative - I don't want a dragon with an armor plate in a place that few, if any, opponents would ever reach.

I want wild and untamed dragons.

The saddles and howdahs... just kill the models for me. ::(:

UltraForge under the new owners are still around, they just haven't produced any new sculpts.

I have several of UltraForges minis that I got through Jeremy when he still owned the company, he's one of the few sculptors I've actually met in person.

Anyway I like his original dragon, you can see where the inspiration for the new ones came from, however I find the new ones too hunched and almost beetle like in appearance. Even his new demons appear to be more chaosy than the originals.

It's turning out I'm not as disappointed as I thought I'd be that I can't afford to back this kickstarter.

He sold ultraforage to someone else and used the money to go to art school.

Yeah, I'm afraid that I looked at the models, and did not bother with the video.

That's... a pretty good reason, actually. ::):

I guess that I was afraid of some form of hostile takeover or something.

I am glad to see that the Kickstarter is doing well for him, even if there is nothing there for me.

Comparing the new dragons to the older dragon... his skill has certainly improved - but that saddle was my main problem with the old dragon, too....

Frustrating - that Mountain Dragon is so close to what I want in a dragon (I actually like the hunched pose), but that saddle....

I'm constantly annoyed by silly things like this with so many miniatures companies. The restraints of using these in games are stifling but since it pays the bills.....

Presumably it's easier to justify spending a load-o'-monies on figures that you're actually going to use, rather than those intended primarily for display.  Or at least, there's a larger market for the former group.

These are some awesome figures, but since I don't play Warhammer or the like, I wouldn't get much use out of them.  Still, I haven't ruled out throwing in for one just out of sheer awesomeness...  :;):

I'm going to be honest as a gamer I am really happy with the miniatures having clearly defined bases with little in the way of overhang near the ground. This makes it far easier to go base to base which is vitally important for determining reach and range. I understand other people may be unhappy with this but very few other large mini manufacturers take this into account so you often times have situations where it is impossible to actually position a wargame with the minis provided.
