The villagers have been having trouble lately with a large Ettin that has been raiding thier mountain fish stores and they have asked our intrepid friends for some help. After scouting the area Kord decided that a mountain path leading from the fish nets would be the best place to meet the Ettin and issue his challenge. His two travelling companions, Ingrid and Hellakin Goregutter, feel that Kord needs some assitance and set up a trap to help bring the Ettin down to thier size! We now join the troop as Kord issues his challenge to Nor'Okk. Tricksay
Friend?.... Gorf, although frightening to look at, was always on the lookout for new friends. He had met Squeak, his shoulder buddy, in a barn and had rescued Red, his foxy friend from a snare. Caw liked shiny things and had led him to the old battlefield, scattered with old weapons and bones. He was surprised the scavenger just ran away, and left his lil buddy... He'd never leave one of his buddies behind, maybe the lil pup would be his new friend? He'd call him Woof ! Thanks for looking!Reaper Figures: 02685: Formorian Giant, P60048B: Fox, 03567: Familiar Pack X (Caw/sword), 02677: Townsfolk IV: Bandits, (1).

Popular Post Jasper_the_2nd
The Breach The last year has had its ups and down for the Gnomes of the Stonehavens. The Wyrmgear Initiative (as it has become know) has been very successful, and Wyrmgear and his later created brethren rule the skies. This has kept the Goblinoid hordes in check. On the down side, repeated attempts at formal alliances with the Dwarves (be they the nearby Dwarves of Stonehaven, the distant Scrunts of the territory of Olley, or the mighty clans of the Oathsworn Dwarves) have thus far lead to little more than non-aggression pacts. But unknown to the Gnomes, the Goblins have been much more successful in finding allies. For deep within Goblin lands they have uncovered an ancient Maul of Legend, known as Stonecrusher. Legends say it was forged and wielded long ago by a Demon Prince in his war against Hirst the Builder. The Goblins have gifted this great weapon to Skorg Ironskull, King of the Fire Giants. In return Skorg has mobilized the might of Thulgarast to lay waste these puny Gnomes. And he has brought with him his ally Kyra, riding the mighty Lavarath, to take back the skies. The plan is simple, but effective. The Goblin army has attacked a key village near the Gnomish stronghold of Blackstone. The Gnomish air forces have quickly mobilized to engage the Goblins. Which leaves the stronghold itself vulnerable to attack, especially to an attack that can blast straight through the walls… ************************************************************************************* Skorg despises the waiting. But still, the Goblins’ plan is surprisingly clever. They will need to be watched more closely… At last, the cursed winged mechanical monstrosities are away. Time to alter the plan. “Vanja, hold the troops here. I shall go with just Fomohr and Drokos. If this weapon works as the legends say we will be more than enough to rid this hill of its pathetic vermin,†With that Skorg strode from cover, casually marching towards the walls of Blackstone. Fomohr, as always, quickly took the lead, placing himself between any danger and his King. Drokos strode beside his King, thoughtfully weighing the massive maul in his hands. A sudden cry could be heard from the walls as they were spotted, followed by a strange, alien whine. Moments later a blast of searing light flashes past Skorg, detonating a trough in the ground well behind him. “Blasted Gnomes and their infernal creations!â€, he snarls, and waves his sword forward in a planned gesture. As the three Fire Giants break into a jog, Kyra and Lavarath streak into view. The strange device on the battlements fires off several haphazard blasts as its crew tries to get a bearing on the mighty dragon, to no avail. Lavarath crashes to a stop atop the tower, smashing and mangling the device and its crew. Now at the wall, Drokos glances at his King once then steps forward. Hefting the might maul, he delivers a single swing with all his might. The wall in front of him vanishes, blown into the keep with incredible force. Fomohr immediately charges through the breach. Skorg can’t help but laugh, this power the Goblins have freely given…. “Bring it all down, Drokos!†He commands, as he charges forward. Popular Post Kharsin
Working in ministry, I've always been impressed and shocked at the challenges of single parents, especially single mothers. The drive and determination that these women have to live life, often against their choice, is always an inspiration. I conceived this diorama a few months back, during the time I was painting Kaya the Reaper. I was curious as to what would drive this woman to pick up a spear and charge into battle. The answer came in the form of this Year of the Giants diorama and a Frost Wyrm I'd picked up to paint for my son. Kaya's story is one of tragedy and unforeseen circumstances. The loss of her husband and older son has forced Kaya to make a hard decision: either slay the monster ravaging her people, or lose herself and her son in the process. The spin on this story, of course, is Nidhogg herself, who is now a new mother. Both are acting in the best interest of their children. Kaya needs to slay the beast to protect her son as well as the rest of the village. Nidhogg required food for nourishment of the developing young inside of her. Now the two meet in the wilderness, to kill or be killed. The death of Nidhogg will bring food and safety to the village, while the death of Kaya will end her dynasty. I added the two ropes at the last minute as a reflection of broken childhood: a broken swing. The decisions we make as adults affect our children, and can either enhance or detract from their lives. Young Bran may or may not grow up in a world without a father and an older brother, and during a time of strain on a village ravaged by a beastly mother. So..... Mothers: The Beast of the North has teeth that are unseen, yet cut to the bone. She has eyes that never sleep, ever seeking to slip your soul from its mooring into eternal slumber. She has claws that rip babes from their mother’s arms, fathers from the arms of their brides, and tear through the fragile bonds that bind the elderly to this plane. The North is a harsh mistress, and the creatures that survive there has been shaped by her cruel nature. Such was the fate of Kendric, Elder Tribesman of Eagle’s Eyrie, husband of Kaya, father of Bran and Hrothgar, beloved of many. In the year of the two moons, his life was stamped out by one of these cruel creations of the Beast: Nidhogg the Vile, Wyrm of the North. It was the night when Nidhogg came, Seeking souls and meat to fill her venter. The dark mistress hungered for innocent flesh, Young and pure to quench her bloodthirst. Though large, crafty she was, Sliding silently though the frost-kissed glade. Through town and tent she glided, Until old Nidhogg found young Hrothgar’s bed. The blood of kings this night she needed, And that of the young and pure. Two chomps and a swallow were all it took To silence young Hrothgar’s cry. In wide-eyed silence stood young Bran, His turn next to die. But lo! In came brave Kendric, Blazing axe held high. Chomp, chomp went the Wyrm’s fierce maw, Rage blazing in Nidhogg’s eye. Kendric knew the time was short, His last young son to save. The Vile lunged, the two she desired to claim, Brave Kendric met the charge head on, The Wyrm’s head he sought to mame. As time and tale doth quite repeat, Young Bran he managed to save. But lo! Great Kendric the dawn did not greet, By Nidhogg the Vile he was slain. Great fire from her form did flare, Igniting wood, and flesh, and bone. Fear, and tears, and blood did flow, Revenge did Kaya vow. The Wyrm herself a mother now, In matronly care does rest. Kaya the Ravager plots in fury, To slay the Wyrm or die. The cost to the village was great. Nidhogg the Vile, Wyrm of the North visited many that night, causing pain and destruction wherever she went. Many lives were lost, and the very existence of the tribe was in peril. Widowed and with no one to care for young Bran, Kaya the Ravager, baby Bran in tow, set forth into the wilderness. She has vowed to either take the head of Nidhogg and bring life to the village, or end the dynasty with her death and that of young Bran.

Reno
Gunther has finally come of age. He has slain many in the name of the King of the Fire Lands, and now he has asked for the hand of the king's daughter. It matters not how Gunther has proven himself thus far. It matters not that he has slain the fire drake of the Ash Lands, or that he has vanquished the evil sea dragon of Thesonali. No, for her, she will take nothing less than the hide of the vile plague now infesting the Cinder Forest, a long lost resource for the King's forges. After weeks of study and travel, Gunther and his trusty hellhounds Cinder and Smoke track down the beast near its lair. In the early dawn they set out, Smoke hot on the trail. Throughout the day they exchange wits in a game of cat and mouse until finally, the moment comes. Without hesitation the three move into action. They can only hope they are the quicker.
