Plasticrack chopshop... has gone to the worms.

Being a big fan of prepainted plastics, I have not got a lot of painted stuff for Show Off, but I've got some  techniques, weapon swaps and basing ideas to share. There will be a lot of these as I've got a small hoard of Dreamblade, clix, WoW and assorted action figures that could use a round base.

Bobby pin blade swap, a Future floor finish water effect, twine as grass experiment and coffee grounds with static grass basing.

Nice bases.  I know they're prepainted, but that doesn't mean you can't improve their paint jobs :)  I painted a D&D Prepainted Chimera's Goat head white, simply because it was too much brown for my tastes.  It worked and now I have two of them easy to tell apart.  That was my intent, at least.  Also, your basing on those... mouth-things... is better than my typical basing.

The Blade conversion went really well too, perhaps a wash of metallic paint over the black?

Nice bases.  I know they're prepainted, but that doesn't mean you can't improve their paint jobs :)

Takes time to get paint supplies ready, trim mold lines, wash the mini, dry it off and apply the paint. I also have prepaints backlogged for rebasing all the way back to Mageknight Rebellion. Sometimes a mini gets a spot of paint or marker to cover something, but a full coat of paint would mean it needs to be kept in a carry case rather that just tossed into a cardboard box,

Where on earth did you find pre-painted Gugs??!

I really like those bases - simple and effective!

Pathfinder Minis Shattered Star set. Gugs are cheap on the secondary market. Just search pathfinder gug on ebay and you should find some for less than $5 each. I'd have linked to the search, but G-D-F'n ebay keeps putting tracking crap in the links. The Iron Golem from the same set is also pretty boss and downright classic.

Added a wire through a centipede to make positioning easier. Might do this to Wyrmgear's tail in the future.

I know that there are some folks here who aren't very fond of the DDM prepaints, but I think that there are some fairly decent figures available from that range.

I think that you've done a pretty awesome job on the bases, especially the felt as cobblstone.

Are the big mouth-head things gugs? I may have to see about getting one or 2 of those.

Here was a piece of black felt soaked with white glue on top of a base. While it dried, I used a ball point pen to push a tile like pattern into the felt. Drybrushed some grey then mounted a Paizo iron golem. Poison gas is some green Halloween webbing.

Wow.  That is really effective!  Very 'old school' too (did the 3E Iron Golem even have a breath weapon? I know the 1E one did).  Thanks for the heads up on these minis - hopefully I can find a couple of Gugs and an Iron Golem for myself!

Glad everyone is liking them so far.

I would never have thought of felt to make cobblestones!

How about pine bark as slate?

World of Warcraft Miniatures - Spoils of War - Marlowe Christophers. I like this mini, kinda feels like a higher level version of the old Azoth the Faceless from Dungeonquest.

I missed a few spots of grey.

Yes, often times the plastic minis are actually decent, but covered with a THICK and very durable paint. Even all the wayback to the first Mageknight minis, there were some decent ones, like the deepspawn and imp,

3.0

Breath Weapon (Su): First or second round of combat-cloud of poisonous gas, 10-foot cube directly in front of the golem lasting 1 round, free action every 1d4+1 rounds; Fortitude save (DC 17), initial damage 1d4 temporary Constitution, secondary damage death.

3.5

Breath Weapon (Su)10-foot cube, cloud of poisonous gas lasting 1 round, free action once every 1d4+1 rounds; initial damage 1d4 Con, secondary damage 3d4 Con, Fortitude DC 19 negates. The save DC is Constitution-based.

Vurgoyle #046 Mage Knight Dragon's Gate.
Small angled feet on the fig makes the fig kinda hard to rebase, so I used the hammer to make a dynamic flight style base by running a pin up through the base into the hammer. Again, pine bark as slate.

Base was meant to look stoney, but it looks more like flattened webbing.

Getting the Yhetees based up. They are getting magnetized bases because  the customized weapons might break off if just tossed into a bin.

Crystal chunks will be made into iceclubs. For variety, some will have a frozen meat on bone. The 'meat' is paper towel soaked in fake blood mix, the bone is real bone from a chicken wing.  :;):
