Draconas Creations is a pretty good off the rack place too although he can do custom orders.  My wife has similar uh.. issues and needs steel boning as well and the one she got from him was fantastic and inexpensive..

http://www.renaissancefashions.com/ are friends of mine and do multiple ren faires around the country.. they do great work as well.. most of it custom

And just go ahead and search 'Dr who corset' while you are over there

Definitely. I just have to be careful about where i get my corsets. They can't just be for fashion but have to be for function as well. I have terrible back pain (For obvious...reasons....) SO if I'm going to wear a corset for at least 10 hours at a con or around the house/work that thing needs to be spiral steel boned. There was a reason why I was in my blue corset for longer periods of time than my brown one. @[email protected]

I DO adore loriann designs (I follow her on facebook) And she's incredibly nice and willing to give advice on anything. She's willing to make whatever you want. 9/10 I'll have an outfit similar to this, but her corsets are not double boned.

My rant is just for other females that might be wanting a costume next year and I did A LOT of research on corsets. For corset advice: Lucy's Corsetry is a must.

for OTR corsets (Off the Rack) My Number one go to is Orchard Corsets. They give you so much information and they are inexpensive for off the rack corsets. They are also VERY well made. Both of my corsets are from this place.

Secondly is Timeless - Trends, which are of slightly better quality and a larger variety of colors and styles but the price is typically over 89$ not including shipping but still a place I'd like to get a red or blue corset to go with my star trek theme....(Hint hint Mr. Melons.)

Pendragon Corsets had a very nice selection but strangely a lot of their selection resembles the Timeless Trends pictures so....that's as far as I went. @[email protected]

The fun thing about costume making is being able to add your own thing. I'm planning on a bright red or a blue corset and getting the big star trek logo for the right side of my shirt   with a skirt and what not.

For doctor who, there are Tardis corsets, There was a lovely lady that wore  a nice tardis dress at the con. (I didn't catch her name she won the big voted award though)

The fun thing about being someone from doctor who is the near unlimited number of characters that are in that show. I'd like to be Elizabeth the 10th from the show as well.

I think I'll just get a long flowy dress made out of a fabulous astronomy-themed fabric, then go shopping for appropriate celestial jewelry. If I wore a corset, chances are quite good that I'd end up passing out.

I've tried corsets on before, even have one for special occasions, but the problem is that because wearing one restricts breathing slightly, it feels too much like the beginnings of an asthma attack, which unconsciously freaks my body out a bit, which makes me want to start taking deeper breaths, etc.

If I were to try to wear one in a hot, crowded area while in a state of extreme excitement, well...I just don't think it would be a good idea.  ^_^

Maybe I'll just go as a Starry Princess or something. With one boot, of course.

I make my own. It's got a learning curve, but once you have a working pattern you're set.

Do any orders? :P

Sorry, no.

But my local fabric megastore holds corsetmaking classes. It might be worth looking into it in your area.

You could just wear a nice wide stretchy belt or cummerbund. Much the same look, but more flexible and comfortable.

So now that the con's over, we non-attendees are curious and want pictures.

Loim took a bunch of photos and posted them http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/54608-reapercon-2014-loims-photos/

I would like to share my pictures. I snapped a few. But when I hook the go-go-gadget-phone to the old-old-gadget-computer it won't allow access to the pictures.

:grr:

Can't figure out why. I did it before. With this phone and computer. There is a directory on the computer labeled: first-batch-of-pix-from-phone. It contains the first hundred fifty pix shot by the current phone plus another fifty transferred from the previous phone during the upgrade. (But all of those were prior to RCon...)

I took the month or two before the con to 'break in' both of my corsets. I suffer from asthma and worried that if i had an attack, then it would cause me to pass out or something else dramatic and the like. It might look like that sucker was on really tight, but my body had gotten used to it and I had no problems. I'm on the big girl side so I had enough squishy factor to achieve a comfortable shape. I probably could have gone tighter but I enjoy life.

...while in a state of extreme excitement...

This reminds me...

So, Mrs. M, how much vibrating did you demonstrate at RCon?  ::D:

It was a good two days before I had the courage and 'calmness' to go and speak to the artists. And honestly, everyone were so polite and welcoming that I had no problem speaking to anyone after that. I managed a "Tigger" Banner while in line though :p

Is it a smartphone? Can you upload directly from the phone to an image host like photobucket or Flickr?

I'm thinking for next year I just need body paint.

What, like Judi Dench in A Midsummer Night's Dream?

Something like this:

Very appealing. She's wearing a lot more than Judi Dench did. As I recall, it was basically green paint and a little belt of leaves.
