I seem to recall Bryan saying that if you didn't pre-order, there wouldn't be a box lunch for you. Not that you might not still be able to purchase food onsite, just not the boxed lunch (and therefore, likely without the associated ReaperBucks). I'll see if I can locate the post.

No problem. I have a mind like a steel trap (that is, rusty, and full of holes), but if I have a glimmer of recalling that I read a tidbit of info somewhere on the forums, I can usually find it. It can be easy to miss stuff like that, as it was not in a thread dedicated to that sort of thing.

The great food debate!  My friend and I have scheduled time to be able to leave and eat.  While I am sure the hotel's catering will be tasty, for the price it just seems a better option to leave and have a nice meal elsewhere.

I think there's a golden opportunity with these boxed lunches that hasn't been talked to yet:

 

 

ReaperCon boxed lunch = Reaper 'happy meal' = Boxed lunch with Bones mini included!

 

Think of it - a hobbyists' happy meal with a cool toy for us big kids.

It is a cool idea, but I'm guessing the boxed lunches are a standard product of the hotel's catering system, which might make packing them with toy surprises complicated and/or expensive to manage.

 

If I'm wrong about that, then I am totally in favor of the idea!

Aye, that is why I suggested they just be "taped" or "bagged" on the outside of the box as they are handed out?  Just have a nice stack of them ready to go as they will know the count of box lunches ahead of time.  Or even a simple card taped to them to redeem for your Reaper Happy Meal Toy (trademark pending).

Another though is a bones miniature in a can (similar to the old snake in the can thingy). This way they would be a consistent size and might be an idea for something to be sold through vending machines during the con, neatly tucking them into lunch boxes, or chilled in a big tub of ice water. You pop the top and then pull the miniature out to see what you have.
