Lurker Above (painted)

Hi all,

Here is my painted lurker above. CSM was kind enough to give me the first crack for my very own sculpt. this is a production copy in metal; it is big and solid. to give you an idea, he is mounted on a 50mm base, and the humanoid skull is to scale.

overall I am happy with how the lurker turned out, from start to finish, but being able to paint it taught me some very important lessons about what i liked about my own sculpt and what i didn't. there are some mistakes, ill admit, and overall i think this was the most imperfect of the sculpts i have made so far. But, hey, it is a learning process and i still think it worked out well as a project. i can't help but be happy to see him completed, lurking on the shelf, waiting for some foolish PC who doesn't check the ceiling before stepping in a room......

 

 

I always appreciate comments and criticisms, they are great motivators. thanks for looking!

I really liked the sculpt back when you posted it, and I like it even more painted!

 

I wish I had the money to get in on the CSM kickstarters for some of the real old school sculpts. I'll admit I find some pretty bland, but there are some real gems (like this one).

Makes me wish I'd backed the ToH Kickstarter.  Money was too tight at the time, but I will definitely get this mini when it becomes available from Center Stage Miniatures.

Nothing beats AD&D - the walls, floors, ceilings and treasure chests could all kill you!!

Ouch.  6 months over due?  At least, if all of the models are even half a great as this one, it should be worth the wait!

You've done a FINE job painting & basing a HIGHLY IMAGINATIVE, if somewhat disturbing, piece. As a Fan of the Bizarre, it appeals to moi. VERY WELL DONE!
