Minifying a whole party!

Recommended Posts

So... I finally got an entire party together! That's four players, plus myself - but wait! Now they all want shiny things to clunk around with. So... well, I'm sure you can see where this is going!

So, I have four minis to select, for four very different characters. I want to go all Reaper on this, just to make picking them out easier, but I'm not afraid of a bit of greenstuffing or a weapin swap to get things right. The characters are as follows -

A female tiefling rogue like this one, preferably (but not necessarily) with a mohawk and daggers. I found this one, but, well... she's a but jugsy, tbh. Ta-tas the size of beach balls. Some truely massive melons. A pair of epic funbags. The long and short of it is, I like her, she's definitely a tiefling with a mohawk, and I'm thinking that once she's painted and on the table her... endowments... will probably be less noticeable? IDK...

The other option I've found for her is the female Skoli. I really like her, but obviously she's not bemohawked, and her hair doesn't lend itself to that... Not without carving that I don't have the tools or the expertise for.

A warforged. Tall. Taller.  No, not that tall. With a jaw plate. That's all I've been given. From the sketch I was given, this guy looks like a pretty good match, but finding Warforged is tricky since I can't just search Warforged, and I don't know the technical term for a "Not-Warforged". Hrrm. So any suggestions in that vein would be appreciated.

An eladrin "witch". Do I know what she means by eladrin? Kind of. Do I know what she means by witch? Not a clue. A spellcaster, obviously, and I statted her as a wizard, but... ? I like this lady, if I snipped the skull, but IDK - the girl playing the character is into pretty things, so I should probably go with something a bit more fey... I really like the Aspis Consortium lady, too, so she's another option - she's kind of spritely, which might work nicely...

A goblin fighter. I want something a bit more fancy than an ordinary goblin, if possible. I kind of like the Goblin Leader - he has the right sort of swagger for this character...

Really, I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks!

I really like the second mini for your tiefling you linked... the first one is just a bit...

But thats personal taste.  You could possibly add a bit of a mohawk onto the top of the head... that trails down into becoming a long mane.

This one might also be cool for your "witch"

http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/female%20caster/price/02621 from the learn to paint kit is also lots of fun as a caster!

Would searching for plate armor help with finding something like your warforged?  Aren't they supposed to be animated intelligent constructs? (ie looking like they are in full plate)

I love the look of this goblim fighter:

'Morning!

The two terms that work best for "not-warforged" on the store are 'Golem' and 'Construct'.  Really for that one your options are limited, if you want one that's classic DnD Warforged [humanoid in plate]...Bob [the one you linked] is my go-to...obviously mechanical, pretty big, intimidating sword...but his balance is wonky, put him on a base or he's going to topple.  A lot.  Size-wise, he's in either my 2 1/2" or 3" foam tray.  The other one I can speak for is the Iron Golem, which is properly huge.  Roughly the same size as bob [with sword], maybe a little taller, absolutely immense bulk.  The only other two I found that might suit are the Onyx Golem and Golden Guardian.

Maybe this would work for your mage friend?  If not, the Warlord line especially has a lot of 'female wizard' to pick from, many of which fall under 'classy' and 'pretty'.

For the tiefling, you're best off searching 'Hellborn' or 'devil'.  I only found one with daggers, the same one Hex linked, and...well, let's just say certain things can't be unseen, so best to get a Weapons Pack [Pack 7, Pack 2, and Mercenary Pack all have good daggers] and do a weapon swap, or lay out for the tools to do a repose, both of which are fairly easy in the grand scheme of modding...especially considering the pose and that the hands are mostly open to begin with.  I can also confirm that Twyla, Topheavy Hellborn isn't just a victim of camera angle...she'd knock herself out at a brisk jog.

And a goblin with a lot of swagger...It's officially listed as a gnome, but I'm somewhat partial to this little guy there.  Some green paint, a bottle of eau de stanky shoe, and you'll never tell the difference.

for warforged I generally recommend any full-plate with helmet.  It's all at that point in how you paint it.  Maybe GS a jaw plate on, and it's a construct.

I also concur that gnomes, goblins, and halflings can all be used for goblins.  Again, a little paint makes all the difference.

As for Twyla, she was a commissioned model specifically requested to be a busty demoness with a mohawk, there's a long story there, but involves a D&D group whose players and GM were all adult film performers and they wanted custom models for their games.  I'd suggest a conversion - head swap with a female body that has the right look.

I've always been partial to 03192: Alustan Nightbreaker for a warforged... You could always do a head swap. The Black Legionaires and other Overlords have some decent heads for carving off the lower half of the face and adding a jaw plate.

Although, 14508: Vernone, Ivy Crown Captain does have a very robotic-looking helmet, lol. It's... kinda disturbing, actually. And he comes with both a helmet and a head, so you can just buy the sprue with his helmet on it and get his shield as well.

Any elven spellcaster will work for the eladrin - physically the only difference is that eladrin eyes have no pupils: their eyes are just glowing orbs.

It's probably easiest to just paste horns (or that hellborn's head) and a tail onto a regular mini that fits the general description of the tiefling rogue's gear...

What kind of armor and weapons are we talking about for the goblin?

That's probably another candidate for changing the race by doing a headswap (02531: Dobbin is pretty badass for a halfling and a good candidate for head-swapping)...

She's a DYOM?  We've got time for a story if you do!

Pretty sure they're the group from the web series "I hit it with my axe" over on the Escapist.  I think I watched part of an episode.  People sitting around playing D&D.  Who happen to work in adult film.
