I was thinking of picking up the base set.

I have two questions:

Do I need to have extra monsters like more Rabid Squirrels?

What about the Bag of Slimes?

The add-ons should be available retail after the KS, and Miniature Market and Amazon should give you an idea of how much discount to expect. So... I'd say do like Citrine and buy the base game (with the version one rules) now, or, if you want the coop rules, pick up the FK base set through the KS or at retail. Then buy the additional expansions and add-ons if you like the game. Note that since Amazon sells the base game at $70 from the $100 MSRP, you'd probably pay $70 for FK retail, so you're paying $30 for the free extras in the FK KS.

More importantly, anyone remember the Squirrel tokens from Magic the Gathering Unglued or Odyssey? :D

I've never gotten anything by SDE before, are the minis resin? Plastic? I know those adorable little slimes are going to be translucent plastic, but I seem to have missed where it states the material...

The miniatures in SDE and supplements are plastics; not too bendy but also not 100% riggid.

I'd say a harder then the Bonesium Great Worm but not Lego hardness.
