Dragon Crate, by Albino Dragon

Recommended Posts

Albino Dragon is the company that produced the "Name of the Wind" playing cards, the "Princess Bride" playing cards, the "Dragon Whisperer" card game and quite a few other Kickstarters, all successfully (or about to be successfully) delivered.

The "Crate" of the title includes a "Dragon Tome" illustrated deck of cards, a 1.75" dragon coin token, a dragon miniature (resin that is 3.25" - 82.55 mm - tall and has a 3.5" - 88.9 mm - wingspan), and two "Dragon Dice" with a dragon head replacing the six-pip side. They're only offering two pledge levels both equal to $19.99 + shipping, one for US addresses, one for international addresses. They have no plans to include add-ons because of how much more doing so usually costs them, but the individual items would each be $15 - $20 alone so it's a really good deal if they can make their goal. The page even provides a break down of what percent of each pledge goes to which area (KS & PP fees, shipping costs, marketing costs, manufacturing costs, & profit), just so you can see how it all plays out.

Looks a like nice collection, might make a great gift for a friend. Wish there was a bigger pic of the miniature though, she is a bit picky about her dragons.

This is the picture from the video:

There's some pretty good detail in there.

I've added a "watch" for this one. The price point is pretty decent for a bunch of dragon related merchandise.

It was going to be a reward for another KS that never reached funding or the stretch goal.  Not sure which.  They mention this in the actual KS page..

It was a stretch goal they didn't quite reach for their "Dragon Whisperer" family card game.

Personally, If I like a Kickstarter campaign enough to "watch" it I usually just go ahead and pledge for the minimum I'm interested. I figure, what I really want is for them to reach their goal and "watching" isn't going to help with that.  About the only reason I might choose to "watch" something would be if I found something I absolute loved but was currently in a financial position where I didn't know if I'd be able to afford the minimum pledge level I wanted before the deadline.

I "watch" a lot of KSs I don't back, simply because discretionary funds don't often allow me to back in any meaningful way yet, but I want to keep an eye on the project and not forget it in case funds are delivered by the magic discretionary funds fairy.

I suppose that's pretty much the same as my last sentence.  ^_^

I think, perhaps, I just don't "get interested" in very many KS's when compared to some others. For one, when I don't have any discretionary money available I make a point of staying away from KS in general (Lead me not into temptation!). And even when I do have money to spare and am poking about the KS site, I have to really like the idea (and I mean REALLY like it) and also really believe it would be "useful" to me or my family (for varying definitions of "useful" of course) and, unless I REALLY trust the project owner, it also has to have a relatively low price point to get in at the first level that makes it interesting to me.  If it fails to meet these criteria, for me, it's just not even worth watching, and if it does, since I'm only looking when I have discretionary funds, I go ahead and back it. {shrug}

What Bryan said.

Trying to buy a replacement car so I will have to "Watch" until it's nearly done and see where the funds are at.  Prior to the death of the car, if I was interested enough to "watch" a project I would likely be backing it.

I feel ya, Bryan.   In addition to last minute funds, if I like the Kickstarter but still don't have funds I can follow up on it when they make it to production.

I really only look at kickstarters I see on here or posted by others on FB or G+.

They've been revising the planned appearance of the coin (current planned look is below) and cards (which will be much more dragon-centric then originally) based on feedback and at 4 days out it is looking much more likely that this project will fund (I had my doubts). Of course I'm mainly still following it just for the dragon figure: I'll be giving the rest of the crate to my sister as a gift. :)
