Hmm... Had to research this myself.

Update #65 of Name of the Wind ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1460165270/the-name-of-the-wind-playing-cards/posts/614668?page=2#comments ) talks about Shane Tyree being "no longer with Albino Dragon" and talks about him in fairly positive terms, saying how cool he is, and implying him leaving is because he has been getting better offers.

Shane initially said the following in the comments, which doesn't parse the same, but is vague enough to sort of fit.

Erik simply could not justify the cost in paying me, and considered me a liability in light of my pursuit of other licenses for Albino Dragon.

But then Shane followed that up with the following much more specific bit which doesn't cast Erik in a good light at all.

What you are actually witnessing is a tactful and well executed attempt to spin what was in fact a very very terrible conversation between Erik and I. That ended with the promise of a discussion in the morning, culminating in this update. Which was, suffice to say, a surprise to me. Thank you all for the congratulations, but for the record, I am being congratulated for being run out of the company that my work helped to create. I thank you all for your kind words, and I stand by my commitment to give YOU ALL every piece of work that I feel you deserve.

He followed that in the same comment section essentially saying that after everything went down they formulated the best way to proceed, but it still rings kind of unpleasant.

I'm now torn. I do like that dragon, but some of this doesn't feel entirely right to me. It is all a bit more corporate movements then I prefer things I back to be. :)

I'm still annoyed at the president for his treatment of Shane, the artist from Name of the Wind, after the last kickstarter.

Thanks for that Serpine, I had no idea.

Anything else to add hmdrake?  Don't stir the pot and run lol

Sorry, Serpine's posts are what I know. I tend to back kickstarter projects based on the company first and project second. If the company doesn't make me feel comfortable with their practices, I won't back. Its why I pulled my CMoN pledges.

@hmdrake, I totally acknowledge that you are completely entitled to your opinion and entirely within your rights to respond to what you know in the way that you have - by not spending your dollars on Albino Dragon's products.  ^_^

I myself feel that differences of opinion can, and do, happen regularly in business and, and sometimes rough breaks, though regrettable, just have to happen. It's also, I think, the case that the "truth" in such situations (with respect to "fault") is usually unclear from the outside, and even when you investigate further the bottom is still murky because life is full of shades of grey. So, I am sympathetic towards Shane's situation, but the difficulties between him and the company are not enough to dissuade me from pitching in to this campaign.

And, on that note, there are *ONLY* 5 hours to go and they are sooooo close to their goal - less than $1500 (or, given the minimum pledge is $30 for backers with a US address, $35 for international addresses, 50 additional pledges) is needed to push them over the top. Every pledge over the next few hours will make a real difference - hopefully anyone "on the fence" will consider falling on the same side as those of us who are already backing it: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1460165270/dragon-crate

Only $173 to go in the last 4 hours. I think it just may squeak in under the wire...

Update: It is over the funding threshold now.

Update: Complete and funded now.
