A couple of Elves

Your axe just inspired me!

Also the axe has great contrast, it's a good example of where you should be aiming with everything (with some care).

Nice shading. I need to work on that.

SPLENDID ice base.

I like the reds you have going on in those robes -- very nice!  What did you use to do the snow?

I got some snow effect powder from my LGS, mixed it with glue, water, and matte sealer. Then I applied it with a toothpick. The stuff is very powdery, so don't breath in its general direction.

Thanks redambrosia, I appreciate the explanation of your method!

The snow elf is great but he doesn't quite interact with his base. like he's been superimposed.  Maybe if there were a little snow, dirt and slush on his boots.  Or if there was a little staining along the bottom of his cape and tabard to show that yes, he's been walking through snow.  The minis pose is a little stiff and exagerated which magnifies this disconnect.  But I do like the color scheme.

The bright gold edging on the mage is great.  Really looks like it was embroidered there. The floor is a great effect, too.  The buckle of her rope belt might look good as gem rather than just plain gold.  But that is a style choice rather than a recommendation.

This is my first try at using Milliput to sculpt. One of my players has a Druid with a turtle shell shield so I made the flat metal looking shield of Tolan into a turtle shell. I may wash or glaze over the shield to tone down the contrast. Not sure what color to use though.

Here is the Druid from the Grenadier Wizards box set, this one sans dart. Very simple garb on this guy.

I don’t know what to think of this guy. He looks very 1st-level, compared to the Druid with Dart. His sword doesn't even have a cross-guard. How anyone can sword fight in those Smurf-like robes escapes me as well. I think this guy has a lot to learn.

This is the Druid with Dart from the Grenadier Wizards box set. The mini originally had a tiny little limp carrot-looking dart in his hand, which i always hated. I took the liberty of replacing it with something a bit more substantial.

My daughter came up with the entire color scheme. I sometimes ask her to pick out the colors when i have no idea what to do.

I don't know what the little critter perched on his staff is. Maybe some kind of little lizard friend? Or maybe just something carved on the staff?  Oh well.

I liked painting this figure, did it for a friend from my d&d party. He's using it as his half-elf druid. We are both happy with it overall
      Hope you like it too!

I also tried fiddling with lighting and a background for the first time so if you have any tips on what I could have done better with the photos please share :)
      Thanks for looking!

So, after my initial pledge, I spent much of the past month following KS Reaper Bones V. While watching the marker grow painfully slow in the second week, while anxiously wondering if the last dragon would be unlocked, I was painting some minis in front of my PC.

Here the first one: Bonehenge Priestess. I tried an unconventional scheme, which I hope worked.
