Dwarven Forge Cavern Tiles

Mr. Cthulhudarren seems to be suggesting that now that the arena of competition has been entered, our reasons for not throwing our hat in the terrain ring are less valid, and perhaps we should consider some Bones Terrain other than the Dungeon Dressing and Dungeon Décor packs, and distinct from the Dragons Don't Share base and terrain.

FWIW, I want to make it known that I was not trying to "rock the boat". I'm a big fan of Reaper, and was in big for Bones1 and 2. I was just being facetious.

No worries.  I was just explaining my understanding of the comments, while anxiously awaiting my Cavern Tiles shipping notification...
Ok I just got the chills like when you're at the end of an episode of a show and an unexpected twist comes up.

To be fair to Dwarven Forge, because they offered Lizard Man minis... I immediately went out and bought all the Reaper Bones Lizard Men that were available at my "FLGS." Basically with the thought that the DF minis would be minions / normals and the Reaper minis would be the "bosses" of each encounter. So, in this case, DF offering minis created a sale for Reaper. But I'm kind of weird with that sort of thing.

Not weird I use my old heroquest orcs for minions/normals, some old Harlequinn orcs for higher ups and the reaper orcs (due to their size) for generals/bosses

No shipping notice for me...

Maybe because everyone expects my name to be something like Theresa Hunter or something like that. (It's not anything like that, fyi)

Yeah.  That kind of surprised me, too.

Hmmm. If DF is doing minis then Reaper can do terrain.

Huh? Where did this come from?

I believe it comes from comments we have made in the past when asked if we would do a modular Bonesium terrain set. Our responses have traditionally been that our friends in the industry at Dwarven Forge, whom we have tremendous respect for, and whose projects we ourselves back and enjoy, already do this product and do it exceptionally well. With this product niche filled, we see little reason to compete, and will continue to make minis and let DF make terrain.

More dungeon dressing/decor stuff! And outdoor things too! Wells, walls, trees, mushroom patches, bushes, etc. Great, my mind has wandered into imagination land.

Over on the DF forum I had started a tread http://www.dwarvenforge.com/forum?func=view&catid=517&id=70390 about wishing for dressing/decor stuff in their KS3.  Reaper has made some dressing/decor both as small items like scrolls and treasure and adventuring items in metal and some larger items in the Bones KS.  It is an area where if the two companies did not make the same thing in Dwarvenite and Bonesium it would be great.

I am not a buyer of resin decor accessories, so I would love to see more dressing/decor accessories made in Bonesium to fill my Dwarvenite terrain.

Back to the subject of caverns, I have not gotten my shipping notice yet, but I await with great anticipation.

I didn't buy any of the Dungeon Passage Packs during the Kickstarter. But as this gets closer to fulfilling, I'm looking forward to picking these up. I remember during the KS there being a discussion on what the best composition of these is... Does anyone have any thoughts on how to best utilize all pieces? It's been too long!

I just got a UPS tracking alert for a 21 pound package.

I think I may have gotten one of the test packages!

(This is the only thing I can think of that I have ordered that might weight that much)

So the package arrived today.  No Dwarven Forge love.  But it is a HUGE box of Shadows of Brimstone.

If I remember right it really depended on how twisted you wanted the hallways.  Also if you minded gaps.  If you don't mind gaps then all pack #2 would work well with a splash of pack #3 if you don't like cutting the tiles up.  If you wanted to avoid gaps then it gets really complicated and all depends on what you are trying to build.

I found that for me the best combo was

2ea #1 for passages

1ea #2 for four way or cross intersections mixed in labyrinth style

1ea #3 for three way and corner passages

2ea #4 to use with the #3 set and on there own as stand alone four way intersections

But that is just my take on it.

Maybe you are, if you do, pictures must be had

Ah...lamentably I myself won't be seeing them for at least a couple months, for they are being shipped to my American friend, whom I will be visiting over the holidays.

My apologies!  I am a miserly, if patient, Ghost Finder, and could not swallow the international shipping costs.

My tiles were delivered on Friday and yes, I was one of those who accidentally received a double order, and yes, the extra tiles were returned first thing Monday morning.  Cus I'm just that kind of guy, and my American friend is a mensch.

Now the zen begins.  They are there, waiting for me, calling gently, like the soothing, seductive rolling of the surf.

Thanks, I think that's the comp I was thinking of. I remember playing with it for several hours when it was live. I think it was 2 #4's to each #3 to use all pieces in a set-up. Thanks!
