ub3r_n3rd
I've read of others buying from overseas without any problems. You aren't trying to resupply a store with hundreds of brushes or anything. Check out Jackson's Art Supplies, this is where Amazon is getting theirs and then marking them up. Go buy direct.
redpiano
Yep, just wasn't sure because I've seen mention that it's illegal to import them personally too, but maybe not! Going to go ahead and pick a couple up then.
ub3r_n3rd
Quite a few people on this forum have bought from Rosemary & Co as well which are the same kolinsky sable brushes without problems and they are based in the UK I believe. MissMelons
All of my brushes have been ordered online, no legal disputes here. I'm hoping to by some more Rapheals for my birthday. Mmm a Nice 0...and a 1, maybe buy a 2 to be spontaneous.
ub3r_n3rd
I've found another company in the US that has some Raphs 8404 in stock...
Doug Sundseth
It's my understanding that there is no legal impediment to importing the brushes into the US other than having the right paperwork. When I've ordered brushes, there was no paperwork of any sort, and they showed no signs of inspection. But I wouldn't expect anything worse than a bounced package if they were to be inspected; there's nothing illegal about importing wood and kolinsky fur.
LittleBluberry
Doug summed up my thoughts. It's not illegal, it's just bureaucracy. The seller should be responsible for filling out the paperwork, just as they would be with sales and/or import taxes.
Baugi
Those of you that have bought from Rosemary&Co., what line? 33?
fanguad
yes, that is the "correct" product line aside: they have actual real measurement listed on their website now! it is quite clear now that 0 and 1 are similar, then there's a bit jump in side to 2 and 3. this is info I wish was universally available
redpiano
I don't think Series 33 is analogous to W&N Series 7 guys, I just got two S33's and two S323's and the 323's are identical to W&N S7 Minis, the Series 33's are more like W&N Series 7 rounds, not the mini lline. fanguad
Most people around here prefer the S7 Rounds to the Minis. So "Series 33 == Series 7" is what I meant.
redpiano
Reeeally, and here I thought the W&N S7 Mini was the brush people used, that's what I use lol.
Dontfear
The mini doesn't have enough belly to keep paint wet,and you have to go back to your paint a lot since they are so tiny.
redpiano
I've only ever seen people using the minis in tutorials and painting videos, the rounds are practically liner brushes.
junex
I love the S7 Miniature brushes too. Since my workhorse is the S7 Mini #3 I've never had a problem of paint drying on the brush. Maybe also because I use retarders a lot.
