Hillviking84
Hello all, first post here. I am looking into warlord, and I am Very Interested in playing and building an army for it ect. But unfortunately I asked the guy working the counter at the reaper store if there were any groups that played there or if there was a certain day they do any kind of organized events for warlord. He told me that it wasn't Very popular in the denton tx area. ....... Krap! I kind of find it hard to believe that there are no players or small groups for this game in the area. There has to be some local guys as interested in warlord as I am. So I guess I'm starting this thread to find anyone who is having the same problem I am. So just seeing if anyone would or is interested In playing warlord in or around the reaper store in denton tx
Shakandara
Welcome, Hillviking. While I am not local (well, unless you consider Houston "local"), there are other Warlord players in the area. Hopefully, some of those guys will chime in and help you find some opponents to play against. ~v
JeffyBaby
There are a few of us locals who get together occasionally (every other month or so) at Area 51 in Grapevine (not too far from Denton). Are you coming to ReaperCon next month? The convention games and dungeon crawl are really the best, most fun method of learning the basic rules system employed by Warlord (probably even better than a demo of Warlord itself as a starting point). Many, if not most, of the locals will be there. That way, we can meet and get you put on the email list we use to coordinate gaming sessions.
Big Al
I live in McKinney, just off 380, so playing in Denton would work for me. I just started looking at Warlord so I will probably order a rulebook today. Most of my models are on 20mm base so would that be a problem for friendly play? JeffyBaby
Depends on your friends. Officially, Warlord uses 3 base sizes. 25mm, 40mm, and 50mm square. If you're using 20mm for your Standard size minis and your opponent is using 25mm, then you will technically have a slight advantage in Combat Actions. Basically, you can gang up on your opponent better than they can gang up on you. As with most things in life, if your opponent doesn't care in friendly play, then it really doesn't matter. For official play, you could blu-tack your minis onto a 25mm base, or even just cut out a 25mm piece of cardstock and stick it under your 20mm base to represent official base size. Hillviking84
Sorry, been a crazy week!! No unfortunately I will not be attending the con. However I would be interested in the Area 51 group. It's not too far from me and I would love to get games in around denton too! I haven't even started buying minis yet but I'm looking at dwarves and reven... Leaning more toward reven at this point... I just want a bunch of goblins. I was thinking of making two mini forces of each so I could sucker a few of my buddy's into playing too. I have a lot of non reaper minis, orcs, goblins, elves, chaos (but no dwarves), if you or your buddies want to try different factions. What are possible playing sites in or around Denton? Area 51 is not a good option for me.

Hymn
Add me to the list of interested semi-local people (Addison). I can easily commute as well, so I'm up for a game just about anywhere.
Storminator
I'll be moving to the Denton area at the end of next month, and I'd love to get a regular Warlord group together at the Reaper Store. I'll chime back in here when I get my models unpacked and we can set something up! PS
TGP
I live in McKinney, just off 380, so playing in Denton would work for me. I just started looking at Warlord so I will probably order a rulebook today. Most of my models are on 20mm base so would that be a problem for friendly play? I have an inexpensive solution for this. Ingredients are as follows: A box of 3/4 inch outside diameter zinc-coated steel washers from a big box hardware store. (...who does not love a trip to the Big Box Hardware store. But ACE hardware works too.)A sheet of magnetized automobile signage from Quik-Signs or Fast Signs. (...any of those chain graphics places that will make a sign for your van that says, "Small & Son Plumbing" etc.)OR A roll of refrigerator magnet material 1 inch width --- available at Hobby Lobby or Walmart and perhaps other places. Glue a washer under each 20mm base. Cut either magnet material into 1x1 inch squares. Flip them magnetic side up. Optional steps: paint them to match terrain if desired. The magnet side takes acrylic paint very well. Stippling techniques can work wonders. A thin layer of paint will not block the magnet adhesion. Stick one magnet under each washer-equipped base. Results: The figures on 20mm bases will stick handily to the magnetic squares when your models need to be kitted out for Warlord. The figures on 20mm bases are still available for games of WarCudgel, WarSword, WarDagger, WarHalberd, etc. The figures on 20mm beveled bases will be a little easier to pick up by their bases because there is a washer underneath. The figures on 20mm bases will be weighted a little by the washers. I see it as a win-win-win-win.
