Rare Paint Uses And Opinions

I'm curious about how people feel about the following limited paint colors:

Deadrose Red

Bubblegum Pink

Christmas Wreath

Powderburn Brown

Pirate Gold

Carnival Purple

Clouded Sea

Clockwork Brass

Big Top Red

Ginger Cookie

Breast Cancer Awareness Pink

Reptilian Green

I have read many great things about ones like Clockwork Brass.  But I would be curious to know (and assume others would also) how people have used these colors on their figures.  How might you highlight, shade, or base coat with them.  Any general feelings on what makes the color good or how you have used and liked them.

And ONLY comments about the paint colors and your opinions on them please!  Let's keep on topic about usage and similar things.

I <3 Christmas Wreath. I got my first paints for Christmas (about 30 bottles split between two LTPK and a half- dozen or so seperate bottles), and I ordered an olive green rather than a proper one. So all I had as far as a true green was my Christmas Wreath Green...

Still don't have a proper one; last month I meant to get one at my FLGS, but then I got Teal and Fireball Red instead... CWG is really nice, tho, so I'm OK!

And Ginger Cookie is amazing for mixing. I wish I had a second bottle; I use it whenever I want to make a color look a bit more natural, and when I want to make a really unified colour scheme, I'll mix a little into each color I use (Ruddy Leather plus GC, Teal plus GC, ect. gives it all a nice slightly muted color scheme.)

I've only got two rare colors, from this past christmas.  I've been using Ginger Cookie as a go-to color for drybrushing bases, as well as a quick way to brighten up black primer.  I've been using my Christmas Wreath as a substitute for Leaf Green or Grass Green, which I do not currently have in my collection of triads.

Deadrose Red  -- kind of a strange dull pinkish tone to it. Would be a good highlight for violet red. I've also used it to highlight carnage red.

Bubblegum Pink

Christmas Wreath

Powderburn Brown -- more of a grey color really. Haven't found much use for it.

Pirate Gold -- whitish gold, I'd call it "pyrite" gold.

Carnival Purple -- love love love this rich color. It goes on bright over white, and yet looks fabulous layered and dark too. I'm using this on drow.  It's brighter than Imperial, but not as pink as amethyst.

Clouded Sea -- nice soft dull blue grey color. It sort of goes with marine teal and surf aqua, but more grey than aqua.

Clockwork Brass -- forgot I had this, haven't touched it

Big Top Red -- as above, like carnage but with a bit of a blue tint to it

Ginger Cookie -- haven't tried it

Breast Cancer Awareness Pink

Reptilian Green

Christmas Wreath - Is a great green, on the darker side, if I don't use it by itself I make it lighter in shade

Powderburn Brown - I do not like this one so much, it is fairly dark and yucky

Carnival Purple - a great purple on the bluer side, for when I don't feel like using GWs Warlock purple

Clockwork Brass - Wow great metallic, I love this one!

Big Top Red - I don't use it that much but it is a nice red

Ginger Cookie - Love this one, on the lighter side, very nice brown (tan) use it for leather/bases

Breast Cancer Awareness Pink - OMG this pink is awesome I use it for lips when I don't use Warlock Purple, also I use pink far more than I expected, plus as a highlight for red

While not speaking directly to the colors listed, any of the paints from other manufacturers (except Wargames Foundry) kind of fall into your rare colors concept. Learn a little color theory and you will find the ways to take a single color for your midtone and how to mix other colors with it to achieve your highlights and shadows. Just be willing to experiment a little bit and you will find plenty of uses for all those colors.

Oh and while I like the Big Top Red a lot, the coverage sucks, typical of reds.

Hmm. Clockwork brass is starting to become a folk story on the forum.

All we need now is to have someone say...

"back in my day we had clockwork brass, and we used it on everything."

Mine doesn't count though. Neither of those things are applicable to my situation.

Well this could apply to any color at all, even reaper of course. But I was more focusing on these as few people have them and wanted to know how they put them to use.

Red has been rough for me also. I primed my pathfinder red dragon with brown liner and it came out very dark. Covering it in red now is taking a few coats. Even with HD red.

What's different about Wargames Foundry? I'm not familiar with their paints.
