lstormhammer
Quick question for your Texas Natives: What's the weather planning to be like? Freezing cold, blast-furnace? I remember August was insane weather (far too warm and muggy) but I do wanna know if I should pack shorts or plan for a three-week trip to the tundra. --lil' help? --LSH
Super Administrators kit Posted January 14, 2004 Super Administrators Share Posted January 14, 2004 Farmer's Almanac predicts a mild May. Not too hot, and fairly dry. kit
Enchantra
For clothing if I go I will do my standard of packing one pair of jeans, two pairs of shorts, a few short sleeved tops and a sweatshirt plus other essentials. That will cover a weekend and anything that gets spilled on me, or if it gets cold, I have the jeans and sweatshirt.
lionmane
As a Texan, I suggest you plan on it being hot. Unless the weather turns completely freaky, I don't think you'll need any Arctic gear.
Hells_Clown
"mild" in Texas means 95ish. Hot and humid (least round here in H-Town, dunno bout up Dallas/Denton ways). You've been warned.
Enchantra
I've been in Dallas Texas in the end of May through the middle of June before. Its usually quite warm at that point. I don't expect arctic weather, though a sweatshirt and one pair of jeans is insurance.
Kheprera
May in Texas... Hot. Especially to you northerners, it's going to be pretty near unbearable. Shorts, t-shirts, and plenty of deoderant are a must. Bring bathing supplies as you might choose to shower several times a day.
pae
Thanks for the tips Ary. I think it's going to be the humidity that does me in, since I live in bone dry Colorado. Then again, I did live in Kentucky for nearly 30 years, so it won't be a complete surprise. I was about to ask if the Reaper facilities were at least air conditioned, but then again, I realized that A/C isn't really an option in that part of Texas. Super Administrators kit Posted January 17, 2004 Super Administrators Share Posted January 17, 2004 ReaperCon Weather Report May - average high is 82, average low is 61. It is the rainiest month of the year in this area. (Heidi, Kit's wife.)
Enchantra
When I lived in Dallas for a brief amount of time I never saw one place without AC. So I think keeping cool will not be a problem.
Gus Landt
82 sounds like heaven! Unless the humidity is really high. Anything is better than this below freezing (freezing defined as 50 degrees F) stuff we have 8 months a year in MN!
Feverdreams
82!!!!!!!!!! YES!! YES!! Oh man, I will go just for the weather!! jk Adam
Enchantra
Blech. If I happen to make it I will stay in the nicely Air conditioned buildings. Me and heat do not get along. It actually makes me physically ill.
dude
For mid May in Dallas, expect 85 to 95 degrees F and >75% realitive humidity. Hot and muggy. The occassional afternoon shower is to be expected. Dress accordingly. T-shirt and shorts would be a good idea. Leave the parkas and snowshoes at home.
