Liriel of the Garden of Jazzy

Recommended Posts

Well here she is! I'm having camera problems again, probably because this is the first time I've used photocopied backdrops. The camera isn't having it as the pics came out pretty grainy, and these are after enhancement. At any rate, Liriel is finished! I may break out the Nikon or a borrowed Canon for better pics, but I'm ready to get her out of my hair. Also, Jazzy wants everyone to know that she picked out where the flowers and tuft went. LOL! Enjoy, and comments are always encouraged and appreciated!

Close-up, her left eye still freaks me out... Thankfully it looks good at normal size! LOL!

These last 2 were an experiment on placing her on a cork rather than on the foam covered wooden block.

I may experiment with my white felt later... I'm still trying to master my photography skills which are still lacking. HOWEVER! For those of you who have been following my grumblings on photography, today I placed a pre-order for the new Samsung Galaxy s5, which is supposed to have a very good camera in it! It should be in on April 10th, and for those who know, this makes me really, really happy!

P.S.: For the WIP of the entire project, which is much more than just Liriel, please check out Jazzy's Garden of Eden.

Threw the Nikon on a tripod and captured these. I really need to learn to use that thing!

She looks great, a nice clean paint job. I see what you mean about the left eye, just say she had an accident with magic and call it good, then it becomes a feature instead of a flaw.

Lol! You really can't see it in real life, otherwise I wouldn't have left her that way! In my quest for great close ups, it seems I may be more successful than necessary!

Yes, the camera is a VERY harsh mistress. It blows up all the imperfections that we miss with the naked eye or even magnified 3-4x with visors/glasses, so crazy.

So for my Shifting Sands Project I would like a photobackdrop like I did for my Lost World.
Sort of a little diorama/terrain piece on its own but also a nice backdrop.

      I'll present to you:

The Temple of Apophis ( or Apep) the Forbidden God.
Nobody in his right mind would worship the Suneater, or would they?

Start and some shuffling around with pieces to get ideas.
I already have some stuff in mind, still possible to change/add stuff.

Printing the Artisan Guild Snake Statues that go with that altar as we speak.
Need more of those braziers, and I will print up some Egyptian torches, maybe columns etc...

      Now! KNEEL before Apophis!!!

Been on a painting spree these last few months, in fact Cassie is mini 52 painted so far this year, out of my original goal of painting 50 all year.

First up is Elliwyn Heatherlark, Gnome Bard (SKU 77164) which is the bones version.  The details were a bit soft, but she is totally serviceable for table-top.

Next up, Blink Berenwicket (SKU 3689), the super spunky female gnome warrior in metal.  The sword didn't really turn out, and I should have had a side view...  Metals are shaded metallics.

And last but not least, Cassie, Female Gnome Wizard (SKU 77031) in bones and mini number 52 of the year.

I've had this one in the works for a while. She's a little more cheerful and Art Noveau than most of the rest of my Miskatonic staff, but that's okay! Misk.U. cultivates eccentrics of all types. She seems to be handling the job just fine. And those pointed ears indicate she's already survived a brush with chaos, or perhaps has a little bit of eldritch in her.

Her colleagues are a Stonehaven halfling librarian and a Black Cat librarian/cultist. Gave them both a minor touch-up for this shoot.

This is Peruhain, Elven Monk (SKU 3169, Metal) from Reaper.  I am trying to paint up at least one of every main class/race combination.
