ObsidianCrane's April 2014 Efforts

Recommended Posts

So after my efforts of 17 minis in March I'm off to a slow start in April just because of a week's holiday in Middle Earth (aka New Zealand).

Finished minis:

89012: Lem, Iconic Bard (Reaper)

1x CSM-026 Lemures (Center Stage Miniatures)

77092: Elquin, High Elf Adventurer (Reaper)

The Girl (Bombshell Miniatures)

Gnome Priest (Stonehaven)

77173: Terezinya, Bonepander Wizard (Reaper)

77160: Judas Bloodspire, Vampire (Reaper)

77196: Familiars 2 - Fire Spirit (Reaper)

3 Bones Lizardmen (Reaper)

Here is Lem painted up to be the halfling Bard in my DnD Next campaign;

Here is my first CSM lemure. I deliberately based it in a neutral way to make the mini more versatile, now it's a lemure, or a mud man, or a golem etc.

Lem's face is really expressive. I think it's the quirk of the eyebrow.  ^_^

Also a strategic win painting the lemure for multiple purposes.  I need to start cranking out generic monster minis!

I really like the lemur. Did you use layering for the highlighting on the lemur or drybrush?  I kind of looks like drybush + glaze on the hands, but I'm easily mistaken.

I actually layered it first in my usual fashion and then when basing it did a bit of dry brushing over the top of the layers, so colours from the base appear in the highlights.

I have a Lem! Love the black jacket on him. Wish the pic was a little better on the mud man, bet it is much nicer in person.

It's a fairly accurate picture, I'm only painting to table top standard at the moment as I work on getting a whole lot of stuff painted. Edited by ObsidianCrane

This time it is 77092: Elquin, High Elf Adventurer with his ears chopped off to become the Human Druid in my DnD Next campaign (along with the halfling bard above and the Dragonborn paladin).

And because it's a long weekend...

The Girl from Bombshell painted up to be my Swordmage for Living Forgotten Realms;

And a gnome Priest from Stonehaven, that I plan to use as a wizard. It's the first time I've ever done pink hair (& in honesty it's pink because I wanted to use the pinks I have :)), the general colour scheme was then inspired by some random bit of anime art (that I cannot find on Google again) based on using the pink hair.

The gnome wizard is terrific. It's amazing just how tiny the Stonehaven gnomes are, and you've done a great job picking out the details. I also love the base on the Swordmage.

So yesterday was about experimenting including Sin City inspired scheme and a try at reverse highlighting with the fire spirit familiar.

That swordmage is very eye-catching, you did an amazing job on her. Really like the others you've done here as well.

Well I finally finished my last 3 lizardmen. Now I have 10, 9 Bones and 1 metal ready to terrorise my DnD players (or not). They also pretty much make a Reptus warband for Warlord, just some snakemen, a medusa, the hydra and some trolls to go...

All 10:

The Bones models now with their 5 minute epoxy putty "water effects" and all their colours finished;
