Aard_Rinn
The good news is, my mom's going to keep giving me my budget this summer to help pay for classes. So I'll have plenty of scratch for this! It's just between this and Connecticon, now...
joshuaslater
Everyone realizes that no one official used the word Kickstarter right? Cav boss said rulebooks and Bones cavs this summer. Doesn't matter to me. If they come out by a regular release or kickstarter, I'll put up my money.
Pegazus
Well, the reason for the last two KS were to raise money for the moulds for the figures, wasn't it? I'd think it would make sense to do that for CAV, especially with the smaller niche that it is in. While they could go without a KS, it wouldn't generate as much excitement (and thus the opening of wallets) and be a larger logistical nightmare without all the backend stuff. Dunno. I've got no special insight to it all.
Aard_Rinn
I doubt they'd do it w/o a KS... For one, a KS is a way to generate lots of news; it's like a month-long chance to be noticed and have your product talked about. And I know that KSI and II did that for TTRPG gamers - I was one of them! So I'd imagine they'd want to do the same thing entering a newer, stompier genre. And also, I doubt Bones is so self-sufficent that they can make CAV with the proceeds - CAVs are pretty big and complex, from what I've seen. They're probably more expensive, on average, to produce than DHL stuff, where at least bigger pieces are balanced out by 1-bumps like the mummies... I probably would buy one or two if they're just... released... but if I have a chance to get in on a KS and get a copy of the game & a large pile of robots, I'll most likely actually start playing (& buying more models/tiny tanks/ect.) I just don't like to build up slowly to things - if I'm going to get in on something, I want to go big or go home.
smokingwreckage
See, I want them to release CAV normally, the KS a super detailed 28-30 mm plastic kit of one of the more awesome designs...
Pingo
Reaper will do as they do and as they see needful. It seems pretty clear that they are moving in some direction of Bones CAV one way or another. However it manifests, I think it's pretty clear there is a fanbase waiting. I won't second-guess how they're doing it. The folks at Reaper understand the business way better than I do.
Moezilla
I am hoping for large Bones CAV's, like possibly a Bigtator again or even a couple of other 'big' models as I'd jump on those. I have no interest in the rules for SO, the docs that were initially released when SO was announced years ago made my eyes glaze over. It sounded very much like Battletech and that means bye-bye large battles like we had in 2E, unless you have an entire day to resolve things or you run out of ammo in the first round. lol I would be interested in models but it wouldn't be high on my priority list for Bones as I have a boatload of Bones 2 mini's headed my way in the first wave. But if there were some of the tanks and aircraft at true scale along with some CAV models I've always loved, I'd like them for painting/display purposes and for regular sized models to use for other gaming systems and CAV 2 games if I can talk Mad Pat into playing again this summer. ;)
scorpio616
So does anyone know how well this will work with Heroscape sized hextiles?
Chrome
Kinda so-so. IIRC the CAV hex-bases are larger than the Heroscape hexes, but since you rarely have models fighting at point blank range, that's not such a big issue. The issue is the size of the table. CAV 1/2 required at least a 4'x6' table. 8' was better.
Sergeant_Crunch
Everyone realizes that no one official used the word Kickstarter right? Cav boss said rulebooks and Bones cavs this summer. At the convention he very clearly told me there would be one this summer. If plans were to change, then so be it.
HornedTurtle
On the other hand if no such Kickstarter was being considered you would think someone official would have stepped in to quash rampant rumors.
Sergeant_Crunch
I wouldn't count on that. They have other things they have to do to keep the company running and such.
Reaperbryan
On the other hand if no such Kickstarter was being considered you would think someone official would have stepped in to quash rampant rumors. Hi. I'm here to Quash, er, Confirm rampant rumors. Jon Walker is CAVBOSS, which is official, and until now I had assumed his word sufficient. Ludo beat me to the pictures. Great show! More "official" announcement is coming but yes the rule book and CAV Bones are coming this summer. Reaper (including Jon Walker) is working on the details of a CAV Kickstarter Campaign that would use what we have learned from the models we have already prototyped, combined with John's Rules and a lineup up potentially over 120 models to create something wonderful. We do not at this time have a concrete launch date to share (target of this summer, at present), and we do not yet have any details more than the fact of its planning. Further news will likely come directly from CAVBOSS. As Jon says, an "Official" Announcement will come when we are able to share details. Thank you. Pegazus
... to create something wonderful. I understand how you feel. You see, it's all very clear to me now. The whole thing. It's wonderful. Sorry, got Bowman stuck in my head for a second because of those last two words of yours. Anticipa...
