Looking for Halfling Minis.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

in the moment I have the problem that most 28-32mm Halfling minis do not satisfy me.

1. I don't want them to have tall. Most have sizes like Dwarves. Even the new Arcworlde Halfling minis I will get soon. I want only half the size of a human +/- few inches (not +/- whole feets!!!)

2. I do not want them thinny. No thinny Halflings. More like Tolkien made them in his mind.

3. No shoes! Only shoes for one or two special characters...

Does anyone know a producer of such Halflings to get together a skirmish group (even a bigger group)?

You want to look for the old TSR, Ral Partha and Grenadier halflings... They're real 25mm scale rather than the standard 28mm used these days, so they're pretty tiny compared to modern human figures.

Ironwind Metals still sells most of the Ral Partha figures, but the others will be harder to find.

When I first looked at this title, I thought it read "...Halfling Milk."

Julie Guthrie and Sandra Garrity did some fine halflings for Reaper that are appropriately sized and don't look a thing like dwarves.

Happily, the Grenadier Halflings are sold by Mirliton. I will check if I get some cheap from Ebay, before I get some of them.

Iron Win's old Partha halflings are mostly a little skinny.

Yes, I even checked Ral Partha Europe. The only IWM Ral Parthe which is not thinny is also a RPE mini.

I found no Julie Guthrie Halflings on the Reaper Homepage

About Sandra Garrity Halflings they are all thinny. About Dwarf sizes, I meant they should not be tall as a dwarf and for example all Bones Halflings are more tall as a dwarf than a Halfling should be. A Halfing should not have a size of 4 feet or more.

I've dealt with Mirliton. Shipping to the US is pricey, but otherwise their prices seem reasonable. They were prompt and courteous.

They packed the minis in blister packs, which is nice.

You may want to check Noble Knight.  They currently have some of the old Ral Partha and Dungeons and Dragons Halfling sets and singles in stock.  They're not too overpriced.  And Essex makes nice ones in my opinion.  There are various US distributors for them, too:

I have the same problem with shipping costs if I ordering something from USA, Canada or Australia.  :-)

I am planning on running a Savage Worlds Tyrnador campaign.  The campaign steals heavily from the new Pathfinder Savage World ruleset.

My son created a hallfing commander and he chose the halfling with the torch from the Dungeon Dwellers set as his character.  I modified the mini by adding a banner (after watching several tutorial videos).  He selected a green 4-leaf clover on an orange background for the banner.  Was a fun little project with some neat freehand.

His friend created a dwarf ranger/smith as his character and choose the Stonehaven Mechanist (SKU 2795) to represent him:

Hello all you denizens of Reapershire!

So been working a little bit more on some Bones V goodness, and today I finished the Female Halfling from the Dungeon Dwellers set:

As always, couldn't choose colors, but once I got the colors figured out, it was pretty smooth sailing from there.  I have a little bit of flash issues, it seems that plastic flash works a bit differently than metal. I am seemingly merciless with metal flash, but too cautious with the Bones material, but I don't know if that can be noticed or not here.  In any case, enjoy and have a very nice weekend!

Presenting Alfredo "The Dandy" Francini, a low level mobster with a love of brightly coloured clothes, he's part of the Scylla faction from the now defunct (I think) game Wolsung by Micro Arts Studio.

This guy has been sitting in my 'to be painted' pile for far too long, so I worked on him for the last couple of weeks in between other projects.

As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

I skipped on the last gnome one, but the whimsical fancifulness of this one has got me hooked.

      the polka dots took forever.
I am happier with how the face came out than the free-hand.
