Whob
My friend is wanting to play Elfs in warlord. He's wanting to take advantage to the selection reaper offers with minis. Basically he wants some help. I've told him besides archers and special characters ... Centours and Unicorns or something would be great. Or a wood Dragon. Any help would be apperciated by him and me both. P.S. I'm picking up some Dwarfs this weekend
Feverdreams
There are plenty of great elven minis, and monsters or creatures that could go with them. The creatures and monsters that make up each faction and the attatched fighting troops won't be out officially for a bit, but here are some ideas to add to yours. I have added the product code so you can check it out at the online store with ease. )Mossbeard the Treeman box set. Great power, and looks very cool with an elf army #10010 )Elven archers of course! DHL army packs, if you are good at converting or modelling, you could pick up the weapons packs and make them sword and shield or spearmen also! #06021, #02455 )Prince Almirith for a warlord, great mini! #14066, or you could have a warlord with a bowman, but remember to put your DH figs on square warlord bases! Here is a pretty cool Elf with a bow that could be a good warlord or captain! Baerwyn, #02735 )Maybe he would want to do a Mercenary company, with alot of elves, and throw in some Lupines for a bit of punch. There is the Lord, Rager and Shaman to pick from.#14030,14031,14032 It is all really up to what kind of force he wants. You could take an elven mage for a warlord, and do alot of archers and magic, or get an melee elf warlord, and go with lots of soldiers for close combat, or a good mix of both. Remember that the rules are still being tested, and if you find something that works really cool, keep track of it and let reaper know! He could also do wood elves, with a treeman for instance, or high elves wtih a griffon or a dragon, or get really creative and do desert elves! Add a Djinn and an air elemental , and make some elven defenders of the sands! Remember you are pretty open to call them whatever you want, as long as teh rules are constant. Anyone have some help for these generals? Adam
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted January 17, 2004 Moderator Share Posted January 17, 2004 Without official army lists, it's really hard to say.

Whob
I've always wanted to have a elven army in a different envirornment then the woods or sea. Desert is a great idea. Jungle, mountains, plains, swamp, or blizzard climate elves. Just to do something different. I like your ideas though about the sand elves. Bad butt. I'm going to keep my dwarves pretty ... well Dwarvish. He seems pretty fixed on adding archers, archers, and more archers. Though he wants to use Ghost minatures line from a different company for some of the bulk of his figs, not sure If you've herd of them. Since they're suppose to be so cheap. Though they will probally be off scale a little. Any thoughts on "ghost minatures"?
Feverdreams
Crap..... Thats such a good idea....... I feel like changing my paint scheme or something guess I'll just have to get a new army started... Me too, heh. Ghost minis? I just checked them out. The sculpts seem ok, a bit disproportionate at points, the heads are gigantic for some of them. My own opinion on this is do what makes you happy, though I would invest in the quality minis that reaper has out there for you, only because you can use them in tournaments and at Reaper sponsored events if you are playing Warlord. You could use whatever you wanted at home though. I love Reaper minis though, so I am biased. Glad you liked the ideas, be well. Feverdreams
Plain old dwarves??? Do the same if you wanted to! What if there was a dwarven fighting company that specialized in snow combat? You could model them skis or snowshoes? Or maybe desert combat, do some head swaps from some desert looking figs, or perhaps make your own turbans and cloaks from green stuff. Instead of bear calvary put them on giant scarab beetles, or on dire wolves. Let that creativity go, the worst thing someone will say is, "Man, why didn't i think of that???" Cheers~ Adam
Crusoe the Painter
Woo! How about using Feral Elves from maidenhead miniatures? Basically, a plague wiped out all the male elves in one groups, so they mated with beastmen... So you have different elf mutants, elf centaurs, etc... http://www.maidenheadminiatures.com/ *edit: topless fantasy pictures if link followed* Very cool stuff. Whob
Yeah I like the reaper minatures a lot better myself. But what ever floats your boat eh? My Dwarven Axes will hack um up anyway. Those are some great ideas. You're tempting me to go to the desert. I've always wanted to do some kind of undead dwarf army. Skeletal Dwarves and zombies. A necromatic warlord etc. Gosh so many ideas :( Thanks for everyones help.
