Smart arse

You know it. ::P: Better than a dumb arse!*

*This poster is not calling any other poster here a dumb arse. That would be rude. He presumes ub3r+n3rd's comment was intended in good fun, and has returned it.

$21 for a pre-painted Jar-Jar? Daaaaang that's way too rich for my blood for that figure.

*yes we are both just messing around in good fun.

So does sci fantasy count. I.e. Warhammer 40k stuff?

My personal opinion is that if Star Wars is sci-fi, then WarHammer 40K is sci-fi.

Also I got given space marines at free comics day. I need *some* use for them.

I certainly do hope so, I've started the Eldar Wave Serpent for this ::):

Sorry about the slow response, I spent the weekend at the track at a riding academy picking up motorcycles that folks thought they knew how to ride...

Heck yes 40k is fine.

Well, fine for the contest. My opinions of the game, the company and their policies aren't really relevant to the contest....setting seems pretty cool though....

You will notice I did not pay money for mine.

I may actually have time to enter this contest. It might be fun to actually drag some of my sci-fi minis out of the closet to paint them.

This is most generous of you and you deserve a big Thank You.  I've gotten completely away from Fantasy and I've bought quite a lot of Sci-Fi recently. All classic Pulp as I like the simplicity and purity of that style.  I'll most likely participate in this and will enjoy seeing what others paint.

Ub3r talked me into this. I will probably use it as an excuse to paint up my Doctor Who (sorry, Nerdlord) from Heresy... and build a Tardis. And paint Amy Pond while I am at it...

Just to be clear, because I haven't seen it mentioned, are actual starships in and if so what catagory? I have a collection of BFG and armada ships begging for a paint job and this would be a great excuse...

Good question.  Sure they are in.

I'd say that you could put them in any category.  If you did a single ship, put it with the singles.  A unit or squad would go with the squads.  And an epic battle between fleets would make an awesome diorama....

Yeah Ub3r mentioned this thread to me as well. Might as well throw in an entry as I was already planning on doing something SciFi in a bit... It'll be a welcome break from all the armor, swords and such.  :upside:

It took me ages to choose a colour scheme for the Valkeeri Leader. I eventually decided on Army Painter Shining Silver to go with the whole pulp scifi theme, and VGC Warlock Purple because why not. I was worried the silver bits of her uniform would look like armour instead of metallic cloth but I think it's turned out OK. For once I managed to get her eyes to a decent standard and her hair came out looking good too. Her gun is VMC Brass, toned down with VGC Sepia Wash and Liquitex matte varnish. Her lips are a tiny dab of VMC Brown Rose.

I forgot about her cape until I was finished with her, so it got a few thin coats of Warlock Purple and then began the fun and games of gluing it to the figure. Four attempts later I got it in what I hope is the right position and touched up the purple.

I put two entries into the recent Reaper Facebook Convert and Paint contest. This first one didn't get many votes, which doesn't surprise me as I think not too many people knew what it was and it was on the weirder side. Plus the paint job itself was kind of bland.  But I like the idea of it because of what it is. It is a tikbalang - a malevolent, mythical Filipino creature that leads travelers astray or plays tricks on them. It has a horse's head, a bony body, and long, disproportioned limbs.

I used these minis to make it.  The wendigo's head was chopped off.  Then I took the head of the Silverhorn, removed the horn and did some filing and sculpting to get it to join properly to the body of the wendigo. Very minimal green stuff use outside of filling seams; I filled in the wendigo's hooves, which were cloven, and rebuilt a bit of the mane so it joined smoothly with the rest of the body.

And I saved the body of the unicorn.  At some point I'll have to convert it into a centaur!

Haven't post anything here for so long...

I'm not really following any color scheme here, since I am not familiar with the lore of CAV at all (I'm more interested in the game).

Also I wish I learnt a bit more about painting technique for glowing effect before painting the windows...

Can't believe I missed this one until now.  I didn't have a printer during their previous projects, but I'm definitely in on this one.  Less than 48 hours to go.  Link added.

Just noticed this KS was posted here. Only 53 hours left....

      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wowbuildings/wowbuildings-further-space-adventures-3d-print-stl/description

Here we are folks, WOWBuildings is expanding further into space, with the infrastructure now for several types of scenarios, this KS will be a mix of vehicles and Buildings so you will have an even bigger range of choices for your tabletops. all will come in STL format and cuts will be made where needed so boot up those 3D printers once again and jump on board for what hopefully will be a great sack full of goodies to enjoy.
I am adding a couple of special adds that are for personal print use only as a little treat for you top end backers, all files will be initially 28mm scaled (but slightly over scaled to allow for GW sized figures) and optimized for 15-32mm scales so hopefully something for all.
Again human based faction designs for this KS with other races in the pipeline if all goes well, so hello again and as usual keep the feedback coming and if you want anything specific added then just ask, if it can be done it will be so
Stretch Goals as you see will start at £1000, and £500, but this time i am toying with adding some £250 jump points too here and there to add to the fun.
I have tried to keep the pledge level prices as low as i can as well including the licence which is an absolute bargain price for this KS as a thank you for continued support and to help with those after Xmas blues.
      £10 Road Builder
      £30 Asteroid Miner
      £40 Planet Settler
