So there isn't a pinned thread for this, and search fu didn't help. Perhaps a new thread is in order. if not, Ladystorm, I apologize, and hope you don't mind.

I am looking for a piece, that I am sure was released last year. The Nativity sets donkey. However it doesn't show in special editions, nor when you search for either nativity or donkey.

      Hey everyone,

Just last night, I came home from work and started looking for my pewter miniatures that I have been slowly gathering over the past year or so, gone! All my pewter figurines were given away by my Mom who thought they were items to be donated, when infact I had them all set to take to a friends house to be painted once I got the call from my friends to come over.

A total of at least 10-11 miniatures, almost all that I found on eBay auctions and won. Couple of them were early 90s and the rest of them were more recent. I was extremely proud of my finds since some of them were hard to find, rare or a real fight to win in auction. All the items were unpainted and in mint condition thanks to the sellers taking great care. All of the miniatures were waiting to painted or in the process of being prepared to be painted or actually in the beginning of it.
      What was given away

Three full sets of paintbrushes (Cheaper ones but still really nice, two of which still unused) Bombshell Mini 32mm Fa'o - Cat Huntress (Just started painting her) Dark Sword DSM-7622 Stephanie Law Masterworks Muse Polyhymnia Mythic Female (Was looking for a professional to work on her, she was too pretty for me, a beginner, to attempt) Grenadier 3x Female Warriors Sabertooth Great Cat Riders (Could not paint yet, they were early 80s (I think) and lead.) Lance & Laser 25mm 28mm Dungeons & Dragons Anthropomorphic Cat Ranger Archer (Unpainted) Reaper Gwyneth Roanmane 1998 (Primed but unpainted) Reaper Raindancer Pegasus (Mint condition, wings needed to be attached and primed) A custom Tibbit character from HeroForge (just realized I had it with the others) A gryphon (plastic, trimmed of flash and prepped for painting)
Another thing that I realized that was in the bag, a custom necklace I made for. A lovely hematite necklace with amethyst and a wolfhead pendant.

Has this ever happened to you? What did you do? Can anyone help me?

      UPDATE!
      Good news so far:
The wolf head necklace has been found by the donation company.

      Bad news:
No miniatures were found so far and they made it very clear that there is a very strong chance that the miniatures have been disposed of as being seen as no resale value by them.

They'll look some more tomorrow for them so please send me good thoughts, prayers or any means of swaying the forces that be so that all the items are found tomorrow! Thank you all for chatting and giving me advice on how to handle this, where to look for new miniatures and stories of your own or someone you know who went through something like this.

      UPDATE part 2!
      Good News!
11 of the 13 miniatures have been found!
Miniatures have been found! Miniatures have been found but sadly my Reaper Gwyneth Roanmane 1998 has been damaged, the arm holding the staff has been broken off and lost.

The parts to two other miniatures that were not attached were not found so must be replaced but it can be done and I can use the old ones to practice with or have as spar parts for future projects.

My paint brushes and paint have been found as well so I'm happy that almost everything has been found so far.

I haven't done a WIP here in a while, except for the occasional exchange piece, so I decided to give one a go and see if I keep up with it.  Those of you that follow the "Getting to Know Each Other" thread will remember this piece, but for the rest here's a quick recap.  We were asked to try something new.  As I don't sculpt I decided to try my hand at something simple.  Enter the Master Series Ellen Stone that I received in the Secret Sophie exchange.  While she is a hot cowgirl, she is unfortunately not wearing a hot cowgirl shirt.  I made her one, though I did run into a bit of a problem.  You see, Ellen has a bandana wrapped around her neck and I thought I could work around it.  Turns out that I couldn't (though an expert would have likely managed), and so she ended up with the collar on one side being a bit off.  She's still good enough to paint and experiment with so here we go.

This is what Ellen looks like after a bit of green stuff.  You can see where the knot on the bandana got in my way.  I should have pressed the collar down a bit more as well, but live and learn.

and here is why.  Proper style of shirt.

I considered it likely that the hat would get in the way of painting her eyes so I left it off to start.  I also added three buttons onto her shirt.  They are heroic scale buttons, which is why they are a little larger than normal.

So i started with blocking in a lot of the colors just to cover the white primer.  Her duster is an excuse to try out the Scalecolor Fantasy & Games line of paint that I picked up a few months back.  First impression - Blackert Brown is not a good color for basecoating, even over plain white.  It took a few too many coats for solid coverage.  With a good bit of the primer covered I moved on to  the eyes.  You can always make a pretty good argument that zenithal lighting + hat = no dots in the eyes but it seems to be the thing to do with minis.  I guess everyone now is just used to seeing stage lighting and camera flashes (as the girl above).  Of course, tiny white dots never end up in the right place on the first attempt.

So we have to fix them.  I touched up a few places while I was at it.  Turns out that my old basecoating brush doesn't have quite the point that it used to.  It still holds a lot of paint but the precision isn't there anymore.

One last thing to do before attaching her hat is to get some color on her face.  I put a shadow directly under the brim but did the cheeks and below in a fairly standard manner.  Her face needs some more work but I decided it was good enough to stop and attach her hat.  With the eyes done I seem to be able to reach the rest, and I don't want to call her face "done" and then screw it up gluing the last piece on.

I don't have any major plans for tomorrow (beyond continuing to watch basketball) so I expect to make some good progress.

Here's something I acquired and painted a long time ago. It was made by Reaper in the early '90s but is no longer in the catalog as far as I could find. It's rather primitive compared to the modern mouslings, but still quite nice. Note the worm-like segmented tail. The mousling is cast as a separate piece from the kangaroo rat, but its tail is not. Also this mousling has slender, human-like hand and feet, whereas the current ones have more teddy bear-like extremities.

I felt like painting pink and trying to line in brown, instead of my usual black, so the discontinued Juliette became my test subject.  I think I prefer lining with black
The right side of Juliette's face is quite a mess, both her hands have issues, and there were several other rough spots on the model.  But rejoice, Reaper are making new molds, so I am thinking an improved Bones Juliette will be re-released sometime.

I wanted to practice using the very nice color Deadrose Red 9653.  At ReaperCon I asked Anne how to use it, since it is a grayish pink, and she said to lighten it with skin color.  I think the dress came out very nice.  The faces not so much, there is a reason this sculpt is discontinued in Bones.
This is the third time I have painted this sculpt, though this version is modified, and Mom has lost her eldest
