Nakos' 77171: Stone Golem

Recommended Posts

One of a dozen bones I'm working on at the moment. For this stone golem I decided to try a semi precious stone look, rose quartz. The helmet, bracers, and skirt I tried for a dark granite/slate color. All of the bones I paint right now I just go for table top quality and try to hit the right look from a few feet away rather then a few inches.

Edited: Cropped to get the pics rotated right.

I would say he's ready for a table.

My only comment would be the granite/slate. It just needs to be a bit less blue and darker.

But that's just my preference and it maybe darker than what's in the photo.

Keep it up, Nakos.

      Here are some harpies.
      Linked due to nudity.
When possible, I’ll try to paint Metal along with Bones if I have the same mini in both media.

I found these a little odd, with feathers on part of the wings but serpent scales on the thighs.  So I went chromatic dragon colors.  The feet/claws were based off some raptor pictures off the net.  Also tried three different skin tones: African, tanned, and ruddy, with correspondingly ?appropriate hair colors?  I gave two beach bases and one a rocky base.

      Enjoy.
FYI black scales with white feathers is BONES, and the other two are Metal.

I’ve never tried Dropbox before, let me know if it doesn’t work right.

Another quick and dirty.  No blending in the skin/fur.  A night’s work showing my son about painting fire.  No WIP.  Sorry the face close up is out of focus.

It's night, it rains and it seems everybody in this forsaken town has closed their doors and windows.
Even the Inn seems to be closed, why?
One would think the villagers are afraid of something.

You hear the sound of wings in the dark sky above you.
Suddenly you hear a soft voice:
All alone in the dark? How nice!

You turn around and the last thing you see is the Necromera.

After assembling the Graveyard Golem I decided I wanted to adjust the warp of the gates on the golem's back.

So using two copper staples, I shaped them to an arch and gouged a notch on each wing.  Then cut the staple to leave a sharp point.  After that, I insert the staple using pliers and force.

Next I will secure the wire to the gate posts with superglue and then shape the wire and wing to the desired warp.  Once setup I will glue the wire to the remaining gate bars.

With the main new bars secured, I will intertwine some floral wire to dress up the bars and gate wings.

Stay tuned and Enjoy.  Please stay safe.
