Good work everyone.  Yes, a lot of activity today.  Nice.  Nice.  *thumbing through field reports*  Well done people.  Good to see the new reporters are getting their toes wet.  However, while I appreciate the report on the mouslings, Ms. Melons, I have to say I am disappointed at your lack of acquiring the "old" minis at your FLGS.  Hopefully, we'll see a marked improvement in that area in your next report.

My most recent mini-related purchase were two Secret Weapon Bag O Craps. The last before that was a Reaper Swag Bag. Do those count?

I really considered those SW's grab bag of scrap bases but sadly I didn't have the cheddar to justify that random of a purchase.

My flgs has an old old old reaper angels box (2) that he's had for years that I'm waiting to go on clearance, he still has some p-65s too. I swear he refuses to put them on clearance because he knows I'm waiting.

Oh oh oh oh, I have one!!! I got the space mouslings for super deal price during the miniature sale thingy.

Oooo.  P-65s.  Anything interesting?   Luckily, I am immune to the cuteness factor of mouslings.

My latest grabs were from a half-price bin at the local comic shop... A Warhammer "Supreme Sorceress on Cold One", and a "Tiger Master" from the Mega Miniatures She Warrior line that's obviously from a pretty old mold since both woman and tiger are noticeably flattened... The woman's pretty much a loss since she's only about half as wide front-to-back as she should be, but the tiger's not too terribly bad, even though it does sort of look like a frog wearing a tiger costume, lol...

"Supreme Sorceress with a Cold One," is what I first saw and imagined a decked out sorceress with a Coors Light in her hand.  And the Tiger Master sure sounds like a proper candidate for a half-price bin.  However, we can rebuild them.  We have the Green Stuff.  Na-na-na-na-na-na-na...

My latest purchases have all been internet-based.

A 120mm "urban streets" base, and a pack of 5 40mm "cobblestone" bases from Secret Weapon.
A trollkin, and some weapon bits from Privateer Press.
A Scurvy Dog (undead werewolf), VanHelsing, The Fox, and the graveyard vignette base from Reaper.
Boris Barayev (Five Suns Smuggler), Caine (Cyber Troll), Invisible Man, John Bishop (Space Marshal) and a motorcycle, also from Reaper.

I have some ideas for some vignettes. One just 'cause, and one for the Spaceship Superstar contest.

Which Trollkin?

Nice, Reaper pickups.  Definitely got the vignette / diorama vibe.

Picked up some Reaper and other minis and soem HS paint from the Miniature Market spring cleaning sale.  Got the larger "minis" I've wanted.

Reaper Master Series: Pirate vs Sea Monster (54mm Vignette) (Spring Cleaning Sale)
Reaper Master Series: Maria Roseblade (Spring Cleaning Sale)
Chronoscope: Linus, Zombie (Spring Cleaning Sale)
Pathfinder Miniatures: Skinsaw Cultist (Spring Cleaning Sale)
Dark Heaven Legends: Mab Grindylow, Sea Hag (Spring Cleaning Sale)
Pathfinder Miniatures: Alicavniss Vonnarc (Spring Cleaning Sale)
Dark Heaven Legends: Aeolyrnithan Saveril'Lythiayn (Spring Cleaning Sale)
Dark Heaven Legends: Amrielle, Female Ranger (Spring Cleaning Sale)
Pathfinder Miniatures: Osirion, Living Monolith (Spring Cleaning Sale)
Dark Heaven Legends: Barnabus Frost, Pirate Captain (Spring Cleaning Sale)

There were a lot from MM that I wanted.  *exercises self-control*  Still want.

Interesting mix, Humansquish.

Which Trollkin?

The Iron Kingdoms mini. I was going to use him for a character. He originally came with a greataxe (in hand) and a pistol (on his hip). He now has a Steelhead Heavy Cavalry Axe (in hand) and an Orgun Greatsword (on his back).

ETA: As seen Here (original) and Here (mine).

Feh... Not likely - the woman is literally half as thick as she should be - her upper thighs, which should be pretty much round, are 1/8 inch going front to back and only 1/16 inch from side to side. Her head looks like Leatherface's mask.

Reaper Miniatures and Secret Weapon, Online, The Internet

My most recent mini-related purchase were two one Secret Weapon Bag O Stuff. The last before that was a Reaper Swag Bag.

Heheh....nobody will ever notice that I totally copied Talae's report, altered a few of the numbers, and put my name on it.

(that's because my report really is pretty much identical to Talae's.)

Addendum: I also acquired a Raphael 2/0 brush, which arrived just after the nick of time (the day that we moved), and had to chase me over to Washington. It's still all wrapped up, since I can't do anything with it until after I've unearthed the boxes that have my minis and painting stuff.

Huzzah!

Field Report :: Friday, June 6th, 2014 :: Various Game Stores, Flyover Country

Over the last week I made some road vehicle forays and took the opportunity to recon some brick / mortar installations for which I had only outdated intel.

Location (1) closed, empty, and dead. Not so much as a Cricket stirring.

Location (2) totally rearranged interior, new ownership, previous owner still affiliated but focused on internet based secondary marketing of MTG, table top wargaming relegated to the side room, where it had once been in the main space. Full, complete, Reaper MSP paint rack in store. Acquired the following articles:

  • MSP 09066 Blue Liner
  • MSP 09065 Brown Liner
  • MSP 09072 Rust Brown
  • Bones Tiny Fire Elemental
  • Bones Space Marine / Nova Trooper
  • PIP 72068 Argus - a light 'warbeast'

Location (3) while at location two, in addition to learning that nerds cannot necessarily do maths, I learned that location (1) had abandoned its original position but had re-established itself slightly closer to my home base. I did a drive by and observed from the car park. I was low on energy and did not attempt entry. Place looked to be thriving.

Location (4) while on a different mission (see side note) I found myself well ahead of anticipated time over target, therefore I did a quick recon of Location 4 which was nearby. Seemed to have the same owner but additional staff (perhaps business is improving). No Reaper paint rack in evidence, but Bones miniatures present. Acquired the following articles:

  • Reaper Bones Earth Elemental
  • GW Chaos Knight with Mace --second hand-- fully primed black and somewhat to nearly painted (and better than I am able to manage these days)

Field Report Side Note :: Non-mini related :: Acquisition of foot gear

Background: Recently I replaced my footgear, which had proved to have a disappointingly short  service life of only 11-12 years.

I am now wealthy almost beyond measure. I have a second pair of new shoes. Two! Not merely one for each foot, But two pairs. That means Four total. (I have not had this many wearable, much less new, shoes in twelve years...) This must be what Warren Buffet feels like.

Careful...Buglips may come for your old stanky shoes...

To be honest, I've long been puzzled about whether a die roll of "0, 00" is 100 or 0 as well. I've just been too embarrassed to actually ask anyone.

The answer is in your base rulebook, or it should be. Somewhere in that book, right about where it defines the abbreviation "D%",  it ought to say: "percentile dice are 1-100" or "percentile dice are "0-99".
