Do you have a pin vise or were you using a drill before? You can buy a pin vise that closes down to literally nothing, which should easily fit those bits.

Actually the problem is that as they are too big for my pin vises! They were made for some sort of industrial standard with which I am unfamiliar; the bits appear to be 4 or 5 mm diameter alloy cylinders that are machined down to a drill bit at one end. They're just a bit too big for my pin vises and my other drills are power drills, which seem like overkill. (Also, as cylinders and not regular polygons, I'm a little worried about shearing or lack of grip or whatever. But it's kind of moot if I don't want to power drill my minis.)

Yesterday: Got in the mail my Miniature Market order: Magnimar, City of Monuments. Amazingly. Print copy. Now in hand. For not-a-lot. Also, the Pathfinder Companion entries for Qadira, Sargava, and Taldor, as well as Heart of the Jungle, the Chronicles entry for the Mwangi Expanse.

Also a super-marked-down copy of Dungeons of Golarion.

Tonight: Won auctions for 11 lots of comics. I'm actually really excited about these--wife will be using them to help get the kids, especially the boys, reading. Apparently a real big thing these days, as the folks in the know say to use whatever you can to get them going. It kind of hits a soft spot for me--I was an oddity, I guess, and loved to read, but I loved comics, too. And a lot of these are from my era, so I'm really digging the thought of kids these days enjoying them. X-Men, Avengers, Spiderman, Hulk, Iron Man. Believe it was 154 in all, will be under 50 cents a comic. Probably went a little overboard, but f'real: totally stoked.

Hmm... Bits are too big. I'd check out the Micromark website - they may have something that would fit them.

Edit: Looks like they make a "heavy duty" pin vise with a chuck that can handle anything from .025 up to .25 inches. It's got a plastic x-acto-style handle on it, though, and may be too long for your hand at 6-inches total length given the requirements of our hobby...

So, having now returned to more temperate climes (trip to Texas was overall quite awesome, but I definitely appreciate an average temperature in the 70s, instead of 90s...) - even if my box of loot has not yet (gets in Monday) - here are the results!

My first stop was actually to the NTRPG 'warehouse' in Dallas (which I found out about because Mike had an ad up on Craigslist) - Mike D. showed me around, and I pilfered his stockpile of a few things (less the Sophie and Monster Burner) -

Next, it was off to Reaper! After talking with the guy at the counter for a bit (whose name I regretfully do not remember!), Matt showed me around (even though I had not called ahead - thanks!) - I got to meet Thomas the Plastic Engine, and Mamasan (the cat), and Katie, who was working on [REDACTED], and see a bunch of really sweet artwork and painted minis (the gallery upstairs was, sadly closed for renovations - which just means I'll need to wander back over Texas way... some time when someone else can do the driving...). Of course, no visit to Reaper would be complete without pillaging the $1 bins - I didn't find any minis (or bits of them) I needed, but I did come away with a few paints...

Everyone at Reaper was seriously awesome, and Matt's collection of guitars (and nicely painted minis!) in his office was great, but it was soon time to bid them adieu (because time - theirs and mine - was limited), and it was off to Madness Comics, in Plano - which seems like it is pretty much the platonic solid of what a game store should be (at least in terms of space, layout, size, etc.) - easy to move around in, well-stocked, lots of tables to game at, etc. I didn't really buy much there - the Monster Burner was it - but there was lots of older game manuals there (if not much in the way of minis or paints).

Then came the long (long, long... way longer than necessary) journey to Houston - but my travails and trials dealing with Texas roadways are another story, for another time.

I ordered some new brushes since my workhorses are thoroughly used.

And some Scale 75 paints, with the ones I already have I now effectively built the wood and leather set this way.

Went to the MD Ren Fest this weekend. Got a leather mug and a tricorn hat! Neither of which did I need...

Love that Ren Fest! Went one time while I was living in DC. It's huge and so much fun.

Let's see... I have my FeR order which just got out of customs (NYC), maybe I'll get it this week... I also placed an order for some milliput off amazon last week which should arrive this week. Oh and stopped by Michael's over the weekend, picked up some iridescent medium, a couple brushes to be used for dry-brushes, and a glow in the dark paint 'webbing' used for Halloween decorations.

That's a good find. Thank you for the lead! I was totally unfamiliar with Micromark prior to this. Depending on how certain things go, I may be able to provide an update in the near future.

I have the most glorious and fantastic friends ever. They banded together and built me a computer which I received yesterday. They had to ship the 45 lbs monstrosity.

I opened the box with a hole in the side to find the steel case was dented. From the front ... the dent was significant and very close to the video card. There was rattling, and upon taking off the cover, pieces fell out and the front had to have the drive bay covers reattached.

I checked everything while IMing the friend who put it together (she was MOST upset) and we tried to power it on. Nope. :'(

After much tossing and turning last night I thought maybe some wires were loose. I traced the wires from the power button on the case and found the power/reset cables were not plugged in to the motherboard (red, white, and grey striped).

I can only HOPE that upon returning home tonight I can get it working and the hard drive or video card were not damaged by the impact.

I have awesome friends. The shipping company sucked. *sobs*
