My KD: Monster arrived today.  I was not expecting anything so large when I placed my order. :wow:

Amusing moment: "Thank you bakcers!" printed on the Survivor box.

Sad moment: Opening the shipping box and seeing the contents were completely unprotected.  As expected, at some point the box was dropped hard enough to damage the heavy KD game box.  I know that contents are the main point and the box is just for storage, but I still find it annoying at some level.

Next up:  Waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much assembly.

I think "bakcers" has been a running gag in KD:M for a while.

If there is one thing I am consistent with at Kickstarter, it is completely ignoring the comments section.

You show great wisdom and forbearance.

I  had briefly considered starting with the phoenix until I saw hands #1-30 and said "pass."  It will be put off until needed.

Any clue which hands go where?

One thing Poots did well is have his parts keyed (if that is the right term) so that they pretty well go together only one way.  Each hand is shaped slightly different so each probably only fits in one slot.  That said, there are supposed to be build guides appearing on the KD website.  Ideally such a guide would have pictures, arrows, and numbers like the model kits of my youth. I don't actually know if that is in the cards, but considering the sprues are numbered it may have been planned.

So. Many. Sprues.

I pulled the unarmored and white lion sprues for starters, lest I get overwhelmed.

I am thinking I'll start with the prologue sprue. The white lion and the four survivors should all be straightforward and easily painted. I count 14 parts for mini "F" on that sprue, so he may be ignored for a bit.

I pulled the phoenix sprues. I am already overwhelmed.

I wanted to get the hardest one done first. If I waited until the end, my great grandkids would be assembling and painting it.

F on the first sprue is the Butcher, I believe the first nemesis encounter. Another thing I love about the game is beginning to flesh out the lore a bit, in the intentionally mysterious way. I've been collecting KD for a while now and it's so cool seeing a bunch of the core monsters and personalities in their proper context.

I feel you are going about this in the wrong way.  Rather than using the immortality granted to you by your unpainted minis to wait around for your great grandchildren to paint KD:M for you, you should just go ahead and put your current children to work.  That way you can play the game in the near future and buy more minis to make your descendants paint at some later date.

As an aside, as we hijack this thread due to the lack of another, I cleaned my lion tonight.  While dry-fitting everything I noticed that his face doesn't want to pop into place like it should.  I've trimmed the area a bit but still not quite enough it appears.  Just something to watch out for when you get around to him.

Noticed that as well. The first sprue being labeled was awesome, I snipped all the parts by letter and bagged them, so those minis are ready to assemble. Then I tried the Hand/Intimacy sprue and ye gods. So many unlabeled bits, including a couple of blobs I can only imagine are spacers for the Hand's cloak or something? And the female on that sprue has the oddest sculpted hand that goes under a completely hidden fold of fabric. Good for fitting the part in, but seemed a bit over the top to sculpt a part that wouldn't ever be seen (unlike backs, where you could leave off the cloak and see it).

I'm wondering if the KD stuff can be moved to a group/open thread about assembly? Like post up here if you've acquired it, but talk about assembly/painting of it in a dedicated thread for everyone as long as it doesn't hit any commerce discussions?

As far as Acquisitions goes, I swung by Michael's last night with my wife and we had a 30% off coupon for entire purchase of regular priced items.

Ended up acquiring these items that I think will be great for base work:

Man, I've looking for texturised roll-ons and stuff for years, great find! Are the bricks more or less appropiate scale?

Yep, they were near the little Christmas diorama stuff that you see people make (yeah, our stores put out xmas stuff VERY early).
