Just picked up some loose, painted minis from a local comic shop.

The robots are all from TSR's Star Frontiers line, apparently.  The pink-white fellow on the right is a Lessor (sic) Other God from RAFM.  The gug-looking fellow I just found after a great deal of searching.  He's an Oni no Kamu from AEG's Clan War line, with some modifications.  Looks like the previous owner was trying to give him eyes.

At the very least, the robots should prove useful for pulling off some manner of sci-fi scene.

My sci-fi diorama minis arrived. The base, however, has not.

  • The Invisible Man
  • Motorcycle
  • Caine, Cyber Troll
  • Boris Barayev
  • John Bishop, Space Marshal

Also received a nice bottle of Sample Brown. I've identified it as being closest to Muddy Brown.

Secret Weapon shipment in. The wall on the 120mm base isn't as big as I thought it was, now I'm going to have to order a pack of jersey barriers to make my diorama idea work. It will have to wait until I get back from Korea in three weeks.

Recieved:

  • 120mm Urban Streets Base
  • 5x 40mm Cobblestone Bases

Field Report :: Saturday, June 7th, 2014 :: Private Residence, front yard, Flyover Country

While out on routine patrol I espied a garage sale --- the interesting looking letter box I'd seen from the street proved to be cheap plastic. But nearby there was a small table of assorted figures. Various Disney princesses and such. For two bucks I left with this:

Stopped by the FLGS yesterday after cashing my paycheck, inspired by this thread to peruse the new stock on the way to the comic book shop in the next town over to dig through the half price bin there.

After deciding against some oldschool (Harlequin or Fantasy Battles, don't remember which) armored skeletons and a Saracen Command pack on the basis that I didn't really need them and they weren't quite cool enough to justify $6.95 each just to toss them in the unpainted pile, I decided to impulse purchase the Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved male loresong faen as a mini for my 4E pixie druid, Jack Daw.

For a size comparison, the top of the faen's head is level with the bottom of Sir Forscale's rib cage, which means the mini is about 3x as tall as the actual character, but about as small as I can find while still retaining real details.

I'll need to chop off the sideburns, most of the length of his hair in the back and the pipes on his belt, add some crow feathers on the end of his staff, and then sculpt the wings for him - rather than regular pixie wings, Jack Daw has a single full-sized crow feather for each of his four wings. (In-game he's not really a pixie or a druid but a different type of Fey creature, a shapeshifting crow spirit whose class powers are refluffed as racial abilities.)

One more project added to the pile...

Half-price bin at the other shop yielded nothing. It's mostly 4E class powers cards and Flames of War stuff, with a couple of $3 dvd movies thrown in (which would've been cool if I didn't already own Iron Man, Spiderman and the Matrix, sigh)...

I've looked at the 4e power cards etc, they are tempting... than the miniature market puts postage to be way to evil to even consider (moving them past full price, which is a bit too pricy for me)....

Ohhhhh and I bought some pretty paints.....I heard squeals of happiness!

That's pretty amazing for just 3 bucks, pcktlnt!!

Yup! First big score of miniatures since I started thrifting 6 or 7 years back. :D

Probably use these all as practice pieces to rebase to 1 inch metal washers. The bases are 30 mm. I have the terrain and cards to go with the figures too, but pretty sure no one in my group is going to play the minis game.
