Non miniature/gaming purchase today:

s-l1000.jpg

Probably will be my last or near the last model purchases for the year. I did put a order in with my local shop for the new Racing Corvette that Revell has coming out. After that I'll be done for the year. Nice to have a new model to open up. Now I need to get some aftermarket wheels as the kit ones look bad (too big) when the model is built. Aftermarket ones are thinner & a tad smaller.   ::):

Today was a banner day for arrivals for me. My Mantic fantasy taster box showed up, as did my GW order of White Dwarf, some chaos space marines, a necron lord, and a space marine painting set that comes with little pots of about 8 paints.

The necron lord is a Finecast piece, but looking at it through the blister I can't see any miscast parts.

But the mantic taster box... Man, I kind of wish I'd bought two. It came with a sprue of salamanders, a sprue of orc axes, a sprue of skeletons, a sprue of elf bowmen, a sprue of dwarf ironclads, a sprue of zombies, a sprue of lower abyssals, a few conversion bit's to make a couple skeletons into Empire of Dust archers, a full regiment of goblin fleabag riders, 3 lesser obsidian golems(that seem to be missing a piece or two), some Basilean foot troops that look like paladin foot guards, a copy of Grokagamok, a skeleton walking his undead dog, and some Dungeon Saga minis. Oh, and for some reason they included a pack of horses, the kind that are included in most of their heavy cavalry troops, but without any riders to go on them. So it's just a bag of like 5 horses that I really don't know why it's there.

I'm actually really surprised at it. The sprues of skeletons and elves are full troop sized, so they'll see immediate addition to my existing armies. The Obsidian golems and the goblin fleabag riders are full units as well. The salamanders, orcs, and abyssals are less than full unit size, but they'll make it easier to multibase later. I'm not sure on how many Basilean troops there are, because I didn't open the bag and sort through it, but from the look of it I wouldn't be surprised if it was a full 10 figures as well.

Really good choice to grab it, I think.

I missed you all! I also miss my minis and paints.

I'm currently on an interstate trip and stumbled into a game shop and bought some cool stuff and some things to re-build my paint set:

We missed you!!!!!!!!

*whispers to the others* Who is she...............?

I used to be a frequent painter here but due to LIFEâ„¢ I come and go as I am able. I lost the majority of my paints but hoping to be a consistent poster again.  :;,;:

Cassu! Woohu!

Had a major will save last night, thanks to being broke from my recent bass purchase. Someone is coughing up a KD Gryphon on the FB group, for probably not much more than cost+tax/ship reimbursement. I want it soooo baaad, but I'm a good boy. *sob*

It's not so bad, the new bass is soooo good.

Caaaaaaaaaaaash! I swear you guys have gotten freaking amazing in my absence, I got some hard core catching up to do! I wanna paint so bad right now but I'm in my hotel room with some paints and some figures and no files or cutters, and there is no way I am painting a mini with bits hanging off it where I don't want it! 2 days until I'm home and then I can start and have things to show.

I swear posting here again is like coming home.

Good to hear from you, Cassu!

Swell loot, too!

I stared at the Blood Vestals for awhile before deciding to buy them. I have like zero purple paints to paint them with, but I've adored these minis since they've come out. So I had to! So happy to be catching up on everyone's painting.

Welcome back!

The Asylum welcomes all!

We have recently discovered a new thing that is fun....

Google Hangouts, where we chat at each other whilst painting, sculpting, or just hanging out!

No camera needed, many don't use them....

I am on the East Coast of the US, But Saturday evenings /Sunday mornings, I am on for a long time, and have had chats with a few other Aussies....

So check it out if you are interested!

George

Well, some people have. I'm just kind of bumbling along after a slow year last year (only painted a couple minis and a bust), then I broke my foot, then I took up drawing and oil painting, then another break this year. I've really only done a handful of tabletop minis this year (3 plus a rushed OSL experiment). I'm glad people like them, but I'm not exactly lighting the world on fire (unlike Kuro and Corporea!).

Interstate trip?  Are you not in Scotland anymore?  Or just traveling about?

Back in Australia. Short version of the long story, I ended up dating a very, very bad person and left Scotland very suddenly to get away from them. I don't have my paints and most of my minis from Reaper's third Kickstarter because I had to leave most of my belongings behind.   I am not safe, and happy back in Australia with family and friends.

I saw your art stuff, so cool and mad props to you for giving it a go! So sad about your broken foot though, eep! To put this thread semi back on topic, teehee, just bought a Bones Vanja the Fire Giant Queen to start painting when I get home.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but glad that you are back to where you have some support. It is a shame about your stuff. Welcome back again, and I'm looking forward to seeing your work as you re-engage with the hobby.

Does someone want to lay out the hamster treats over in the randomness thread?  The Sith hamster keeps popping up in different threads, I think he's lost in the forum air vents again...

To make sure this stays on topic, my super wife also got me a new leather cockpit bomber jacket!!!  now to spend the years breaking it in...

Cassu, good to have you back in the hobby again.  I hope everything settles down and lets you start to relax and enjoy life.  Change is hard, unwanted forced change is unfair and even harder.
