buglips*the*goblin
The only one of those I don't have is the Dracolich, which I know is an absolutely hellish kit to work with (should you ever decide to paint it, now you know). That's the reason that one has been low priority for me, since I buy to do them up. I'll get one eventually, likely for much more than yours. But I was thinking about something the other day regarding these limited edition kits. Because they are limited to 5000, we can assume 5000 were actually made. This may, in fact, not be true if it was based on pre-orders. 5000 may never have been reached in orders. But if we assume 5000 did, that is actually a substantial run - and despite being theoretically limited, it may indeed be a higher production run than other kits that were not limited editions. Only Ral Partha would know, if those records still exist. But, as anecdotal evidence, I know that the Red Dragon of Krynn sold quite slowly in stores here. One took three years to finally go, and the other was eventually assigned to me to paint for the store after languishing at least as long. If that was a reasonable extrapolation of its performance in other stores, it's possible there may be fewer non-limited edition RDoK than Limited Edition Takhisises. Glitterwolf
I don't usually post here because I usually only buy groceries and meds etc.. HOWEVER, Today I found these and got them, new and unstarted, just opened. here's the link so you can see them. *snip* and I found that Wally World has the Air Hogs Millenium Falcons on clearance for $25 so I picked up one of those... Let me know if you all think that $50 total was a good deal for the things in the pic. They are my grail kits and I have been looking for them since they came out. Yes, assuming they are not empty boxes. I paid $250 just to get my Takhisis and Soth's Charge. What number is the Takhisis? ETA - Depending on when a person was hunting, and how much competition there was, it would not be unreasonable for all of that to run $500-600 US. At $50, or $16+change each, and adjusted for inflation (that $16 now was roughly equal to $8 20+ years ago), not only did you get a deal against present collectible value you essentially got them for at least 60% off original MSRP. ETA 2 - If the boxes are in very good condition, it's likely those alone could get $50. The boxes look like they were made yesterday and the number on her is 2771. And yes they are indeed full of the advertised product and none have even been trimmed of flash. It looks like they were bought opened and then put on a shelve and then left until I go them. That is a bargain! I would kill be willing to pay more for that Dracolich alone!

Which is why they sell 'collectors edition' Barbie dolls, too. As if most of them weren't already being sold to collectors. I fully expect the 'ordinary' dolls to be real collectors items in a couple of decades because the collections are full of 'specials' but the ordinary dolls in good or perfect condition are getting rare because so many of them were used as toys... And they probably sold way fewer also. Most of the 5000 issue 'limited edition' sets probably sold well, also, because of that label. Better than 'regulars' at leasr. And as people have been starting to collect vintage minis, they will have focused on what they think will be the mot difficult to get items, that is, anything with the words 'limited' or 'special' on, and ignoring the cheap stuff. As a lot of the cheap stuff doesn't sell all that well on the secondhand market, some of it may end up being melted down. (I've read what people find on the Melt table during RCon) So the regular minis may in fact be rarer and should be worth more...

My college boyfriend paid less for his Super Mega Ultra Platinum Edition copy of Warcraft III with Art Book than I had for my Ordinary Collector's Edition because Blizzard grossly miscalculated on the number of people who would buy them and they had to be marked down to get them off the shelves.
knarthex
So a flurry of boxen ended up at my door today... A bunch of old Ral Partha 30s era folks... For if I ever get to play Call of Cthulu again.... (The extra Thompson gunners will likely end up in a box of goodwill at some point... Battle Tech: Tarantula (Needs assembly!) Grasshopper Wasp (one of the 'Unseen'....) Commando those last 3 mechs came in a lot for less than $20!!!! (The Wasps, as unseen, usually go for more than twice the lot cost) And for my Team Yankee Force when I get around to doing my own.... The painted ones will soon be naked again!
Thes Hunter
Today I got: Silver anniversary grim reaper Layer up Learn to paint kit (So my husband can remember what he learned, because he doesn't believe me when I tell him.) A Sir ForScale Blue Liner (cause I didn't know I had it on the tray I brought upstairs for us to paint together. Guess it's going in the travel kit!) DF passage corner kit DF passages w/ straight edges kit x2 DF townsfolk (a little small, some work great as halflings/dwarves, others look small.) 72" tall 5 shelf wire shelving rack (For my miniature board games to go in my craft room) Fruit and nut bird seed, and a 12 pack of hot pepper suet (because those things used up what remained of the home depot gift card) So I didn't get all those at one place. I had two boxes sitting on my stoop, and some things to pick up at the store. But I did acquire them all today.
Mad Jack
Re-acquired a non-leaking furnace today (adventures in home repair posted earlier today in Randomness thread), although it's still old and beat-to-hell and parts are still tied in place with wire... Hopefully won't be too long before actual new furnace is acquired. Also picked up CSI: Double Dealer, one of the official CSI novels by Max Allen Collins, at the Goodwill Store for half price, which came out to 70 cents after tax.

You should be getting one to let you know how much postage you owe.
Mad Jack
The town dump has a fenced-off section containing two shipping containers where people can leave still-usable stuff for others to claim. One of them happened to have about a dozen boxes of paperback books today, all in passably good condition. I picked up a matched set of three books - The New Webster's Grammar Guide, The New Webster's Spelling Dictionary and The New Webster's Thesaurus - as well as The New International Webster's Pocket Computer Dictionary, and one of the Lone Star western serials by Wesley Ellis.

Mind = Blown I will say this, when I was kind of doing a rough mock up to see if all the parts were there, the Dracolich is bigger than Takhsis. in height and length. And looks to be a bear when I go to put it together and I'm betting quite a bit of pinning on it. For such a spindely kit it looks to be complex fitting thing.
