I just hate it when work projects become fun projects... at least for a time.

Our Nikon KeyMission 360 camera finally came in today. Of course, it showed as "On Truck" before Inauguration Day, but it has been going through channels at the University for this long. Anywho, I got to plug it in and charge batteries today... because charging camera batteries THROUGH the camera is optimal... :zombie:

Maybe, in time, they'll have a good charger for it.

Regardless, I get to go out and capture footage later this afternoon! Away from the desk. Away from the phone. Away from the questions and problems. Sunshine and solitude and photography... AWESOME!

Edit: Oh... and why did we get one of these? Proof of concept on doing some VR work, which will cost thousands of dollars. This way we can at least show what is potential for less than $600. And then we move on into platforms that we want to work with and beginning to collect denser point clouds that we can translate into full VR. Our library has a HTC Vive with two full rooms and a few Occulus Rift desks. We're hoping to get a 'satelite' setup going for our projects, but a lot of people need visualization. So I get to bridge the gap! Yay!

Fun tech is fun!

And here to think that I was bragging about us getting a BB-8 themed Sphero to run PDs for teachers...

Acquired: New coat!!

First new one I've had in probably close to 20+ years. I'm picky & frugal I guess when it came to replacing my old one. But a bad rip near the left pocket & a start of a rip on the right shoulder announced it was time for a new one. Gonna be weird not wearing a black coat......

Bought this off eBay (this pic is from Google and not me) for the nostalgia. The kids are excited. We need rubberbands though.

I bought a castle set just like that when I was a kid with the intent of using it for Warhammer. Didn't come in a box like that though, and in retrospect it may have been a knockoff.

So despite previous assertions that I hadn't painted enough giant monsters to justify buying Khanjira, I came across an online auction for one at about half retail. So that will be on its way to me soon.

I failed my Will Save. I just ordered...

03790: Murkillor, Wraith King of the Dark Moors $13.29 x1
03777: Cave Goblin Archers (2) $5.99 x1
03776: Cave Goblin Warriors (2) $5.99 x1
03778: Cave Goblin Breakers (2) $6.29 x1
09451: Dwarven Gold $3.29 x1
09413: Naga Green $3.29 x1
09452: Blade Steel $3.29 x1

While the total was over $40, I didn't get a message in the confirmation saying "Happy 25th Anniversary! Your order has received 1x 25th Anniversary Grim Reaper." like I did with my first order this month. So we'll see if I get a second Grim Reaper, an early Domur, or nothing. And I'm already building up a new shopping cart just to be on the safe side about getting Domur, and it's starting out with a giant that a certain goblin just mentioned recently. Lunkh looks so darned huggable! That big nose is just begging to be made all red and flushed looking.

Holy crap, I want that DCC book just to have it. You never see RPG books with bookmark cutout things in the pages like that.

I know, right? It's truly a beautiful book... And it has 2 actual book marks, in addition to the cut out tabs.

Here in Norway we sometimes call those cutouts for 'bible ladders' or 'bible steps'.

And these days its usually only bibles that have them. They're very expensive to add to books.

Actually having chapter or section texts in the cutouts, that's even more rare.

(The cuts are made after the book has been sewn/glued together, and they need to line up exactly with the text... )

In English those are called "thumb indices" ("indices" is the plural of "index"). Mostly it's dictionaries that have a thumb index around here.

They are also called "cut-in indices" and each individual cutout is called a "thumb cut".

And todays haul...

A big bunch of 0.5mm carbon fibre rods from the Bay of E,

a load of Brimstones & Axes minis(KS),

and a package from Reaper containing among other things Nemesra Dancing Girl and a bottle of Reaper MSP Sample paint!

(Light green going towards a blue, so kind of a cool green. Nice one)

Nope, no 25 year anniversary Reaper. Didn't really expect it, either.

We got our DCC book pile as well. Book is very impressive looking that's for sure. I liked the old school feel, but why did they have to make magic so elfin dumb and complicated.

It doesn't play nearly as difficult as the book makes it look.
