Unacquired: Citadel Golden Griffon. When I popped it open I found that the dry paint was.........dry. As in, beyond usefulness. From a store that's over 2 hours away. I called them and they said they'd exchange it, but this isn't the first time I've gotten garbage paint from them specifically. If the other store around the corner had this paint in, I would have gotten there instead. Think I'm going to make them give me a refund instead, and then buy from the other store.

 

 

EDIT: Checked Underhive Ash, was a solid chunk of rubberized acrylic. Also checked Imperial Primer, frothed up as soon as I shook it; not a good sign. As soon as I used the brush to probe it, I found that the medium was a solid chunk at the bottom, and the liquid on top was what separated from it. Called the store back, they're having the manager call me tomorrow. Three out of five paints are complete trash, and I won't be back in the Big City for a couple months. I am beyond irritated right now.

 

EDIT EDIT: Realized that the Underhive Ash is from the other store, I know them well enough that they'll swtich it out as soon as they get their shipment, no questions asked. Still, all of this has made me channel my inner ub3r a little bit.

Much as I like some of citidel'S colors I don't buy many specifically because the quality control and their shelf life are pretty poor. The DRY series is particularly horrible. I now open any I get at the store and use them on something as I have had both rocks and soup. In reality the only dry I get anymore is the necron compound because it makes shiney. Most of my GW paints are technicals and shades because I haven't seen better in other lines and the pigment is different enough that I don't see the separation problem.

The big issue with the citadels is the horrid pots they're in. It's elfed impossible to get them 100% airtight.

Anything that can be transferred to droppers needs to be transferred as soon as possible.

The drys and the 'Liquid GreenStuff' needs to go into screw-cap jars of some sort.

(Possibly multiple very small jars)

 

Yesterdays hobby-related aquisition was 2 x 2m long PVC tubes, and a pipe-cutter(looks similar to pruning shears).

Today I will add another 3 pipes, some sort of sheeting, and possibly a tool to deburr the end of the tubes...

 I've got Curse of Strahd, and I'm wishing that GF9 would reprint the DM's screen they specifically made for it 

 

Would it hurt to say the day before I left on the plane to ReaperCon last year I stopped at Boise's game store & was intending to pick up the Wizard's DM screen but lucked out & bought the CoS one instead at regular price. Really only missing the 2nd GF9 resin minis (Esmer' & RVR) & I'm just waiting for those to hit the online clearance shops cause well we all know GF9's stuff does eventually.

Speaking of channeling your inner ub3r, I broke down and picked up the new Conan survival game Funcom put out. It's the new hotness on the gaming forum I hang out at (which has been around in some form long enough that Funcom's Anarchy Online was the new hotness for a while).

 

Good potential but it's reeeally early access. I've been playing 7 Days to Die (which is technically still in Alpha) that is much more refined (one of my top tens, probably). Most of the lulz are from the dangly bits and having juvenile fun in multiplayer with friends.

Sounds like my experience with buying Citadel paints. The first couple I bought were in great shape, and I love the Khorne Red's color. But every paint I've bought since has either been useless or needed work to revive. And some of them were bought directly from GW.

 

Anyway, I acquired an order of Volo's Guide to Monsters and a pre-order of Tales from the Yawning Portal. Gonna get some 5e race options and the Tomb of Horrors up in here! Seriously, I think Wizards is really knocking it out of the park on their 5e stuff. One of my friends already has Volo's and he's got Storm King's Thunder, and he loves both of them. ...

Volo's Guide to Monsters is awesome! I spotted some Young Persons going over it at a consuite and had a lively discussion with them over it. We got a copy for our youngest and it's been an enjoyable reference.

Me too. Besides the one bad pot in October, this is the first batch of bad paints I've gotten ever since I started buying paints. What bothers me the most is that it'll be quite awhile before I can replace them, since it's so far out of my way to get to the store. My night didn't get any better afterwards when I had gotten atrociously bad service at McDonald's, it was bad enough that I had to write a scathing email to corporate while I was still in the restaurant.

I've currently boycotted McD's because one night before class they made me wait 20 minutes at the drive-through and then asked me to pull over into the lot and wait longer because I was blocking traffic. I told them their slow service was blocking traffic. She said pull over or she's canceling the order and refunding my card, and calling the police. I completely boggled, left (because I was now late for class on an important night) without any dinner. And she didn't refund my $6.

 

The second worst customer service I've had in the last few years. Right after they got a mandatory minimum wage increase. Super happy about that.

Me too. Besides the one bad pot in October, this is the first batch of bad paints I've gotten ever since I started buying paints. What bothers me the most is that it'll be quite awhile before I can replace them, since it's so far out of my way to get to the store.

 

One thing I like about Reaper is that they've stood behind their products for me, even if I bought them from another store (though I seldom do that these days).  Remarkably, I don't think I've ever needed to ask for a replacement bottle of Reaper paint.  The only one I can think of that failed early was a bottle of white primer, but I think it just sat around too long before I thought about adding water to it.  I've had some of the mini paint pots they used to use in the old LTPKs dry up.  But they aren't designed for long life.  Reaper doesn't use them anymore.

I am doing retail therapy today due to the negative acquisition of one gray half Maine Coon named Bruce.  He unfortunately was so sick the vet only gave him a 25% chance even if we took drastic measures   .  He was literally half the cat he used to be. He only weighted 10.7 lbs today, he used to be 22lbs.

I am doing retail therapy today due to the negative acquisition of one gray half Maine Coon named Bruce.  He unfortunately was so sick the vet only gave him a 25% chance even if we took drastic measures   .  He was literally half the cat he used to be. He only weighted 10.7 lbs today, he used to be 22lbs.
