It wasn't until I was an adult that I found out Kasem, who I knew from his radio countdowns, was also the voice of Shaggy. It was quite a surprise.

I still have trouble making the vocal connection, they both had such distinct voices.

More sad news. ::(:

It wasn't until a week or two ago that I found out. I apparently lived under a rock. Blew my mind.

When I was a middling kid, just before the widespread advent of the CD player--but even some after that, too, for whatever reason; I remember listening in my car on breaks when I worked fast food as a teen--I listened to the countdown on Sunday mornings. Fond memories.

I had no idea until just now that he was also the voice of Shaggy. I loved listening to his "Casey Kasem counts 'em down" on Sundays, and recorded several songs from his lists to integrate into my mix tapes.

Rest in peace, Mr. Kasem. You will be missed.

Huzzah!
