TITLE...Black Orc Squad in Ruins at Gnorbal (GW Ork Boyz)...based upon Warzone Mutant Chronicles.

DATA...I am working on a squad of (5) Black Orcs that will be walking through a ruined building in the jungle outskirts of Gnorbal. This will be a diorama for a western regional contest (later this year)...but will also be my last entry in the (Spaceship Superstar Contest - Squad Category)...again for participation only.

PROJECTS...Beside this project...

1.   I am working on a commission piece (fantasy brothel)...sorry, no photos.

2.   Ren Fair Novelty piece # 19 (Far Far Away)...on hold...waiting for Hot Stuff order.

3.   Ren Fair Novelty piece # 20 (Roadside Shrine)...on hold...waiting for scale lumber order.

4.   Ren Fair Novelty piece # 21 (Supply Wagon)...on hold...waiting for scale lumber order.

So this is what is currently on my work agenda.

Ah, GW orks, about the only minis I still kinda like from them.

Nice paint jobs btw.

Red clothing, hair and straps, are they speed freaks or evil sunz?

A banner bearer huh?

Looking forward to seeing what you do with that.

SQUAD...This is the (5th) ork (the standard bearer) in my (5 ork squad). These (5) figures took 8 days to paint. I will assemble them as soon as my hot stuff order arrives. Will post photos of the base as I work on it...again can't do any work on the base until hot stuff order arrives.

When you said standard bearer I was thinking a large unit or company flag not the small bosspole attached to the back!

HAHAHAHA!

That was all me misunderstanding your pics.

Still looks good imo sir.

Can not wait to see the finished project.

Since the piece depicts a small (5) figure (hunter/killer) party...I did not think that a large banner/standard would look right...SORRY!!!

No worries!

That was my little brain trying to think bigger than what I saw in the pics.

Still looking forward to seeing this complete.

It took me ages to choose a colour scheme for the Valkeeri Leader. I eventually decided on Army Painter Shining Silver to go with the whole pulp scifi theme, and VGC Warlock Purple because why not. I was worried the silver bits of her uniform would look like armour instead of metallic cloth but I think it's turned out OK. For once I managed to get her eyes to a decent standard and her hair came out looking good too. Her gun is VMC Brass, toned down with VGC Sepia Wash and Liquitex matte varnish. Her lips are a tiny dab of VMC Brown Rose.

I forgot about her cape until I was finished with her, so it got a few thin coats of Warlock Purple and then began the fun and games of gluing it to the figure. Four attempts later I got it in what I hope is the right position and touched up the purple.

With my wife and I preparing to buy a house we've been clearing out a lot of our clutter to make packing and moving easier. We've also been working hard to bring in extra money too, and this project will hopefully do both.

Today my wife signed up for a craft fair to help sell the wreaths she's been making for the upcoming holidays. From what she's heard from friends and other crafters this particular craft fair is really eclectic and pulls in quite a diverse crowd. As she told me about it that's when the idea seemed to hit us both, why not try to clear out all that terrain junk I've been hoarding?

So instead of sitting down and painting or creating my latest joke piece I got started. First up was a couple of single tent encampments. I made one on a rounded base to better fit in a table of terrain and I made the second one squared to fit better on a grid system.

Both pieces have their good and bad points but like usual I learn by doing; no amount of research or prep work make up for actual experience. Which is the main reason I made these single tent camps. Hopefully I've learned enough to make any subsequent larger camps better.

Next up are a couple of joke pieces that were honestly going to get made anyway. That's right, they'll be 40k statues when I'm done with them, besides Buzz looks kinda like a space marine already. I had some glue left over so I also started making some sci-fi barrels and I know I'll be making a ton of those.

The last piece of the night is going to be a simple 40k watchtower. At the moment it's really just in its infancy. The main features are finished barring creating a door and applying some details to the piece.

Now before anyone gets too excited, I'm not selling any of these pieces online or anything like that. These are literally pieces that are made to be sold for less than five bucks or so and are really only being made to clear out my hobby hoardings.

Here's the bones Cave Troll!  I painted some of the pustules red with white-heads on them...very gross and troll-ey.  :)

Here is my Knight Templar.  This is the first model I painted after about 5 years of not painting any miniatures.
