Kolinsky vs Synthetic for metallic paints???

Recommended Posts

I have the exact same thing Qwik shows, except chinese branded and bought locally. The cup is enormous but I should try it sometimes with a small cup of cleaning fluid, elevated somehow. The thing is massive for my small hobby brushes; but still holds them securely. I use it all the time to quickly change brushes, since you can push one into the wire and it will stay there.

I just remove the screen insert, fill the cup with Winsor & Newton Brush Cleaner and Restorer, and suspend the brushes in wire.  Never had a problem with my series 7's not staying in the wire.  I also use it as my primary rinse cup when painting.  I keep a separate cup for metallic paints though so I don't contaminate the rinse water.  Usually use an empty plastic Gerber baby food container for this since I don't often use metallics.

Perhaps ours are different size... mine is too wide (like 8cm) and really tall for our brushes.

I use heavy, glass mermelade jars for water. Two, one for first rinsing, one for second rinsing, and never paint metallics and regular paint at the same time.
