Great job MG! I'm loving the colors and the excellent highlight transitions! That base is really awesome as well. Does your friend have a website? I'm getting kind of bored with the wood blocks I can pick up at Hobby Lobby. You can only do so much to make a square look good!  ^_^

Nope, no website.  He's just a wood turning hobbyist.  I just pay him in cash, since I see him every work day.  If you contact him (via email), you'd have to make your own arrangements. PM me if you're interested.

I worked on the base some more, to add some interest, and tie in the colors better.  I sculpted a few flowers and a snake, darkened the dirt, lightened the stump and log, and painted the moss, so it's closer to the color of the figure.

I also added some freehand designs to the back of the cloak:

You can see more photos of the completed figure on my website.

Thanks, Andy!  And did you notice I filled in her belly button and painted her with all her clothes on?  :-)  It ties back to our earlier discussion about how females are depicted in fantasy art.  Real women have curves, of course, but fantasy does not have to equal slutty.  (And those poor bards always have such a bad reputation!  LOL!)

No, I didn't.  I thought it was just really well painted armor.

The base looks much more realistic with the addition of flowers.  ^_^

I also appreciate you pointing out that you modified her bare midriff to be clothed, that's a trick I might try when I paint up my Nature Warden.  It never made sense to me to have a character dressed in furs but with a bunch of tender skin showing!

A bit of thread necromancy here, but earlier this week I was the gobsmacked recipient of this fantastic miniature!  It was completely out of the blue and she is just stunning in hand--the blends are amazing and there are so many little details to take in. I keep going back to her to look for more :) Thank you so much, Joy!! She will have a treasured spot on my shelf.
