Because people (like me) are going to ask:

Is it possible to pledge at the $1 level and then pledge $18 more to just get 2 tiles?

No, I'm afraid we had to close that particular loop-hole. It now specifies that you have to back a tier with 6 or more tiles in it to add Add-Ons.

With the amount of tiles I'll have, I can easily pre-draw the maps for an entire session and still have enough tiles to draw up an additional improptu encounter should combat break out where I was not expecting.

Yeah, I find the tiles to be especially handy when the game takes an unforeseen turn. They are great for any sort of "sandbox" gaming.

Thanks for the reply!  Hopefully I shall get my finances in order enough to back for more of these, since I've literally been trying to find replacements for over 5 years now for ones I have lost/loaned out.

I am very excited to see these coming back! Just about the time that I decided that I really needed these, they disappeared.

I really hope that these remain in production after the KS ends - they are indeed awesome.

The best use of them that I have seen has been a running fight - with the road drawn on the tiles, new tiles added to the front as the chase went on, old tiles removed from the back - I think that eight tiles made for a chase that went on for hundreds of yards, with the old tiles being cycled through again, and the odd one or two where archers were firing down on the road from tiles that were added to the sides.

I'm in for the deluxe set.  We've been using a large roll-up mat I bought at ReaperCon 3 years ago but it is starting to show it's age.  These will be much easier to use and I love the built in "fog of war" aspect to the tiles.

Thanks for posting about this Kickstarter.  I've been a little busy lately and haven't had the chance to look for new projects.

This is me too.  I almost pulled the trigger on buying a set of 12 right before they went out of production.  Tom from BC Products (the guys that made Tact-Tiles previously) even told me that he only had a few sets left.  I decided not to buy them at the time and then spent many, many years rueing that decision!

In my case... I let somebody else buy the last box at the FLGS... after all, they'd still be available, right? :zombie:

I'm kind of following this as I hope they succeed (they're up to $50K out of their $90K goal now, with 24 days to go), but I don't think I'll be able to afford to afford to pledge. If I'd get them, I'm thinking 6 might be slightly too few, so I'd probably want 9 or even 12. Then there's the $50 for international shipping (which I totally understand, but it's still pretty painful), and then, if I'm unlucky, I could be looking at another 25% plus a $15 flat fee in customs. It just gets too pricey for me to be able to justify when we have a big Chessex mat that serves us very well (even though the tact-tiles absolutely offer some additional benefits). If I was in the US I'd definitely be in, and I wish them the best of luck. It'd be cool to see these on the market.

EDIT: Ha, I just noticed that it says shipping and handling is "free for US citizens", and not "free within the US"... Well I hold a US citizenship; do you guys think I could wave my passport and claim free passage to Sweden? Perhaps not I guess. ::):

I'm a backer, but I'll be honest - I barely use mine.  They're best used when you have time to predraw the maps (especially if you're drawing across an edge) and the dry erase often leads to smudging (perhaps fixed by being able to use wet erase with the new product).  I also had problems with scratching (I keep my stuff in pretty good condition, so I don't know if it was caused by miniature use).  Perhaps a quirk of my groups more than a failing of the product, but nearly every group I've been in uses *LOTS* of space in combat, meaning we would need many multiple of the 12 tile sets to actually represent our battlefield (we had one set of 12, which was often insufficient).

Good product, but limited unless you have the time to prepare in advance and the money for multiple sets.

I couldn't agree less Dragon Snack.

ymmv, but 12 is more than we do use during each game, and we don't pre-draw anything.

Damage will happen over time with use, facing the tiles the wrong way during storage can cause that AND as tiles are slid over top of each other when putting them in place on the table.  There are foam sheet dividers which go on the printed side to keep them in good condition.

We draw on the fly and rarely have issue with smudging.

However, with all this said, if it's not the product for you, that's cool - but we love em.
