[SPLIT] Bones 2 Pre-Shipping Excitement

Yes. I have modified Bryan's want list to include basing and scenery as well as TIAMAT.

What? I can do that.

I was thinking of Bone 3: Bigger, Badder, Basier! Lots of large minis and bases.

I know this isn't a Bones III thread but I want to mention II is already coming with a lot of big stuff and I'd rather more useful pieces for the gaming table than a bunch of huge figures.

As a GM, I'd just like to say that "huge figures" and "useful pieces for the gaming table" are not mutually exclusive.

I hope my players aren't reading this…

I hear what you are saying. I just wouldn't want a completely hypothetical Bones III to be all focused on huge. There's a lot of great large figs in Bones I and even bigger in II. I'm not saying there isn't room for more, but my players are more likely to run into bandits or hobgoblins than a kraken or not-tarrasque. That's all I mean, still a lot of great medium sized figures I'd love to see in bones, I wouldn't want an entire kickstarter the size of I and II to focus on stuff I don't get to use that often when there's still a lot of standard medium sized stuff I'd rather see sooner.

I just looked over what I'm getting via the Kickstarter page and got really excited...

I did too, but I always feel a pang of regret I didn't get the kraken.

Kraken was the very first add-on I saw that I definitely decided I wanted early on.  The timing for wave 1 shipping couldn't have happened at a better time if my order ships out monday or tuesday I will get it fairly quickly as Im only 6 hours away from Reaper HQ (sadly I couldnt actually go pick it up though).  That means it could arrive next thursday which is the beginning of my 4 day birthday weekend.  Actual bday is friday the 13th!

I held back as this was my first "I will have to pay custom duties" Kickstarter and shipping was also to consider. I did not get most of the add-ons and none of the expansions (with the exception of Dragons don't share - that was too nice to pass). Looking at the Kickstarter page now, there are some regrets, most I can live with ... but that first expansion ... wish I had gotten that.

The Kraken is one of those minis that I believed were too big for my current interests. Maybe in the future I will want it.

I'm sure several of us are curious to find out if the Kraken's tentacles are firm coiled terrors from the deep or limp noodly appendages (à la Cthulhu).

OK.  Now, after months of saying 'The time to get excited is when Reaper announce they have the product and are starting fufillment", I am now giving my official blessing to get excited.  Just remember, there likely will be delays and hiccups:  Reaper have had a long time to prepare, but entropy is as always our eventual destination and life will always find a way to inject something unexpected into even the most thorough of plans.

Me, personally, I'm going to relax, have a refreshing cider in the summer heat, and wait paitently for the Bones to make it through customs at this end.  I've structured my backing across two accounts so they should be under the minimum amount - NZ Customs takes the attitude that if it'd cost them more to process the duty than they'd gain, they don't bother, which effectively means anything under about $250 worth of goods gets through without payment.  But they'll get here when they get here, and not a moment before.

But yeah, I'm squeeing a little myself as well.  It'll be really interesting to see how the waves track out.  Bryan, would there be any chance of a post-mortem after you finish fufillment?  I'd be really interested in what went right, what went wrong, and what you'd change for next time if, indeed, there is a next time.

I have no idea if I will do anything like that. Last time we did a Thank You video, but not a 'retrospective' as it were.

I sent a couple interview requests to you guys after Bones 1 to do a retrospective for WAMP and Portal magazine. If you have any interest after fulfillment is over I'd love to schedule an interview for a retrospective on this.

I get a month and a half off (minus two weeks fun-with-guns schooling) coming up in three weeks... this is gooood timing.

Nice, I'm taking the week after next off. Hopefully my wave 1 is in hand by end of week next week so I have a good 9 days of mixing up mandatory housework with bones indulgence.

Though I wouldn't mind a Bones 3, if I recall correctly they may also reach a point where KS are no longer necessary to produce new molds and we'd get new Bones all the time alongside the metal minis.

Hopefully, this will happen sooner, rather than later. While I loved the Bones I & II Kickstarters, I have to say I would really just love to have an excuse to go the FLGS once a month to see the new Bones releases.

I could see future Reaper Kickstarters being aimed around releasing vignette type of offerings like Dragons Don't Share with terrain, and a variety of accompanying figures but keeping it more focused in scope. I could be wrong but it was a thought.

I'd much rather see this going forward. Bones I & II have stocked me up on tons of the generics, I'd rather see the smaller more focused (read: less expensive for me) Kickstarter's that can be fulfilled faster.

Let's not get any BONES III rumors started. Bryan as stated that there are currently no plans for a BONES III. Smaller more focused projects certainly (like CAV) but nothing in the league of BONES I and BONES II (subject to change without notice).

Bones III, coming SOONTM

I would not be surprised if there was a way to test shipping orders without actually shipping "live" as it were.  It's also helpful when testing to re-test the same customer a couple of times to make sure problems are ironed out.  When I did testing of loans software I made myself a lot of imaginary mortgages, it was easier to recognize the data discrepancies.  ^_^

Sure, but the last update did say a lucky few would be shipped as tests before Monday, kinda figured that meant today or yesterday. I guess they could ship some out tomorrow.

emails might not generate until the actual pickup, or they're having a snag in that process, or they decided not to do them, or the lucky test cases aren't forum members - million reasons why, especially if we're only talking about a few people out of 14k+

Edited to add:   The forum only has 11,826 members, the kickstarter had 14,986 backers.   That makes a 20% chance that any given test pledge was not actually a forum member.
