Not any minis on this one, but as I know there are at least a few other fans of the DCC RPG here I figured I'd give it a plug. $50 gets you the boxed set which originally contained two 32-page books (adventure and campaign setting), but has now been expanded by stretch goals to contain three more books and a bunch of handouts.

You can also add on existing DCC modules at a slight discount, including a couple that were only released in limited numbers and have previously been hard to come by, so that's pretty nice (these are so far not up on the main page, but check out update #9).

There are 9 days remaining on this Kickstarter.

Damn - this is right up my alley D&D wise (I've always been a sucker for genre blending adventures/settings like this and this one looks like Expedition to the Barrier Peaks on a 48 hour PixiStik n' caffeine fueled bender!).

I set a reminder notice and will likely back it (and pick up the DCC RPG unless my FLGS still has it in stock they had a heckuva time getting their replenishment last time!).

To be honest I still haven't played DCC (like Runelord here I have way too many RPG's, and with our current pace we're likely to be occupied with the Pathfinder adventure path I'm running for a couple more years). But if nothing else, I can really recommend the main rulebook for a read; it's just fun. And someday, someday, I will play it.

The game is a blast to play. Definitely much more laid back than Pathfinder. But don't get overly attached to your characters. Character death is a very real possibility at any time. The rules for "corruption" can be a bit harsh too. But overall I highly recommend it. And it is a great read.

Is there a (legal) PDF version of the core rule book available?  I couldn't find it on DriveThruRPG but I could be missing it. I have spent all of my clutter points on miniatures so I'm sticking to PDFs for rule books as much as possible.

Edit: There is a PDF on DriveThruRPG ($25), their search engine messed up for me.  Searching for "Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG" brings it up correctly.

Dang it all! This is too cool to pass up. I'm a sucker for Barsoom like things! It looks like I will be using the purple planet along with some of the newer pathfinder releases to do a sword and planet extravaganza!

Awesome! I like me some Barsoomian stuff too.

Ok, I haven't played Dungeon Crawl Classics since Wizards switched to 4th. Are you saying DCC basically just made their own rules system instead of converting their stuff to Pathfinder?

The DCC stuff I played was always top notch. Old school feel with dangerous well thought out predicaments the players would find themselves in. Fun to play and fun to run.

Oh yeah, absolutely; a while after Wizards switched to 4th, Goodman Games came out with their own system (as for their modules, DCC67 and forward are for this system). It's very, very different from 3rd/Pathfinder, much more old school, deadly and random. Something about it reminds me of the old Warhammer Fantasy RPG; it might be the artwork, or the twist of dark humour. The game begins with what is know as the 'character funnel', where every player starts with three or four level 0 characters (completely random stats, 1d4 hit points, and perhaps some semi-useful item such as a pitchfork or a live chicken). Characters that survive the first adventure go on to choosing a class and becoming level 1. As I said upthread, I haven't played myself yet, but it seems really, really fun.

Well less than 48 hours left so it is decision time for me! I know the S&H will be at least 1/2 the cost of the 'base' tier ($50 for boxed set and all stretch goals) so that's $75US for something I will likely read and never run/play (most of my RPG groups are in tatters right now due to serious real life issues).

Oh well I have until Monday at least.

24 hours left on this now, and they have announced a final stretch goal. At $60K every boxed set will include a poster in black velvet with the DCC demon skull printed on it in blacklight-sensitive print. I'm usually not that enamored with swag such as bookmarks, belt buckles etc, but this one actually sounded pretty fun.

The $60K goal was just broken with three hours remaining, and all boxed sets will now come with a crazy velvet poster. Or as they put it themselves:

The perfect accessory for your 1970's gaming den, this poster is printed on black velvet. It features the DCC RPG demon skull logo in blacklight-sensitive print. Just like the one you had in college! Crank up the 8-track, break out the bong, and play some DCC RPG. Wait, did we really say that? No bong. No bong. But a blacklight poster: yes. Yes!
