Mierce Darklands: New Kindreds

If Mierce want Darklands to be successful they have to make the miniatures more affordable and more robust. Fragile resin is generally not the best material for a skirmish game, especially where most of the miniatures range cost between £10-£25.

Rob stated that ALL models will continue to be produced in resin first.  After that, metal models can also be made.  But nothing bigger than what gets made for a 60mm base.  And the price difference is substantial.  10 person human infantry in resin = £70.  In metal, the same unit is £30.  I'll be filling out some units, most likely.

That's crazy, they need to get their resin cast in line, heh. It's not like they have KD-level clean casts anyway.

But yeah, I've been trying to keep up with his comments over the last couple days. I could care less about the game or multiple units, but if it boosts the overall line, sure.

Also, they should move to the US (or Canada). It's getting harder every year to justify buying stuff with GBP.

If they could find a way to do bigger metal models that'd be pretty nifty

The birdmen are quite large, and casting them entirely in metal would add quite the weight to them I'd suspect, which would mean a high shipping cost. And for these figures I don't think it would make any sense in making them hollow, as pretty much only a small part of the torso would be possible to make hollow.

But yeah, for gaming purposes, using resin figures can lead to some parts breaking at one point or another. Especially if you play a larger count of miniatures. Skirmish, with a handful of figures, shouldn't be as problematic.

Eh shipping has never really been a problem to the land of the free, even from England with metal. My issue is always the per unit cost and the durability.
