Delayed Mierce Darklands: New Kindreds

Yeah, the frequency of the projects is probably going to put me off this one. The figures that I'm getting from KS2.5 still feel like quite a way down the track, so adding some more figures to the end of an increasingly long queue doesn't really appeal to me. The Mierce projects are excellent eye candy though, so I'll enjoy watching the project anyway.

especially since their first KS is now fully signed off for me with the QS rules having shipped

 

I enjoy mierceday more when I know I've got (some of) the minis coming along in the next few months

 

(and if I didn't spend the money on mierce I'd be tempted to spend it on something else which would probably be less well done, and with more delays)

I do have to admit that the timing of this one has me put off a bit. with 3 currently outstanding they should probably wait until KS2 is actually shipped. If just about any other company was doing this there would be much gnashing and wailing of teeth.

I kind of feel this KS is coming a bit too soon. I initially thought KS2.5 was supposed to just tidy up a few loose ends from KS2, but it grew into a massive project. And the last one, for the mounted beasts, started as a little mini-kicker but ended up pretty big when they released the back catalogue beasts. We're in the midst of shipping KS2, with KS2.5 and the beasts later this fall, winter and spring; it just feels like they are running the KS's at a faster rate than they are completing them.

Of course, the problem is probably mostly that I went in so damn heavily on all these three last projects; I just can't keep up.

I was at GenCon and the Warstore had bins of their miniatures at stupid low prices - $5-$15 dollars for these large minis. I pick up quite a few and they look amazing. I have no idea why they were so cheap but I'm not complaining.

Which ones did you get? And yeah, I agree; the miniatures are fantastic.

Ophios, Muldo, Lugung, Vortun,Uggurd and Ungefelic all for $5. They are all 20+ pounds on the web.

$5? That's sick man. I recently purchased Ungefelic for £30 in their last KS (they had a deal with four big monsters for £120), and I was basically high-fiving myself, thinking I'd made the score of the decade.

Wow, Ungefelic for $5 is an amazing deal. Great score! I don't have the figure, but each time I've ordered I've looked at it and hoped it was cheaper.

I was very lucky. I wish I knew how fine a quality these minis were - I would have picked up more for my friends.

 

The Warstore had a bunch of sales like this through the week. You needed to go each day to take advantage of it.

I didn't get to the hall until late Saturday, I picked up some metal malifaux but I didn't see any Mierce... Hmmm maybe I missed them. But yeah the War Store had some good sales. That's what I look for in the dealer hall... And some years I don't find it.

I agree that I think this KS is coming too soon, but I also understand the reasons for doing it.  First and foremost is to lock up the incredibly talented sculptors they work with effectively through most of 2015.  If Mierce can't keep them busy, then they may not be available when another project rolls around.  The other reason is that they truly do need to continue to expand the line at this point.  But I honestly think that having 10 kindred pretty well fleshed out is going to be enough for awhile.  Then it should be time to let some of these releases hit retail before amassing an even bigger backlog of finished but unavailable models.

I agree, and also hope they kind of take a break with the Kickstarters after this one. Finish the book, let the models hit retail. If they push on, with "New Kindreds II" this spring, I'll actually start to worry that they're caught up in some kind of KS spiral.

I was thinking I'd be relatively safe on this one until the sneak peek Rob threw out there this morning.  3 new Kindred instead of 2, and the third is the Jutes?  Mierce doing undead?  I'm doomed....
