Popular Post Slendertroll
Here's my interpretation of the discontinued Bones Ellen Stone as a blue alien cowgirl. She's actually meant to be part of a much larger diorama, but it's not finished yet, so here she is by her lonesome. The shine on her base is paint (I didn't even have time for it to dry!) but the rest of what appears to be gloss is actually painted on. There's actually a little bit more work left to do on her, but I wanted to get her good enough to enter into the beauty pageant. The guns need work, and I'm going to put some wood grain on the stocks, and there are a few spots were paint rubbed off (I still have the bad habit of holding the mini while painting...) which I'll fix soon. Baugi
Oh my god you made a female Cad Bane! Love it! Really nice contrast by the way! I need to push my highs and lows like this. Edited August 16, 2014 by Baugi
Slendertroll
Hah, so I did! Didn't know who that was until now, so it definitely wasn't intentional, but I do see the resemblance. The contrast is definitely something I'm proud of on this one. What I did here was start with a relatively dark base color, then mix in more and more white, layering up to Pure White. Then I put down a glaze of the base color again to make each piece look cohesive. A few areas, like the skin and shirt, went from a dark color through a second mid-tone before going up to white. I think this strategy turned out pretty well; I'll definitely be trying it again in the future.

Edsterdoom
What a great use of the model. Something nice and different.
Rextacy
This is so fun. I love it. Good job. I assume you sanded her face down, right?
Baugi
Rex - Ellen was one of the models that didn't make the transition to Bones very well. Her nose disappeared in the process, which is why she's not available at retail.
Slendertroll
She had the tiniest little nose-stub, which I just lopped off with my scalpel, but she was really pretty flat-faced already.
Dr.Bedlam
Hm. Yours is better than mine. Nice highlighting! I went with a gray skin tone, but blue seems to work just fine!Mine had NO nose at all...
