I agree.  When I first got into this game (2nd edition), I was concerned about the lack of good fluff.  This edition felt a bit like factions were put on to a map just so that they could say that this had been done.

However, after doing some research and talking with a bunch of the old guard (not calling you old Vince), I was put onto the original boxed set.  Lucky for me, I found a sealed copy on Ebay for a pretty good price.  What I found was a great story that had an epic feel to it.  There was a sense of time as well as a feeling of prophecy to where the world was going.  I especially liked the concept of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.  Not only were these models some of the first ones put out by Reaper, they give a feel for what could be done with the game.  I'm sure that Reaper will shed some love on this game when they have the time and energy to do it right.  From what I see, the world is mostly unexplored and is open to much exploration (and new models).

Until then, I will collect my armies and get games in whenever I can.  At the very least, it is a lot of fun to set up the different factions with the amazing models that are out.

BTW, I'm not a fan of a game being considered "dead".  I have a lot of "dead" games in my collection that have more than enough material/figures to make them fun to play, regardless of whether it is being produced at this time.  Have fun with your toys.  I know I will :;):

they  pass from one kickstarter to the other,  they dont have time or energy left for it

I think it is unlikely that Reaper will put much more effort into Warlord. They have said in the past they are not a game company. Sad, because I think it is a great game and could be very popular if it was marketed even a little bit.  2nd ed rules and Savage North were *volunteer* projects done by the community, not by employees.  Reaper has never put much time into any of its game products, preferring to focus on miniatures.  I think it would be very cool to have the license picked up by another company that would run with it, like Paizo took the D&D rules and made Pathfinder.  If they could keep rulebooks and boxed sets in stores there is a better chance for visibility and popularity.

Ah, daydreams...

While Reaper itself might not be interested in doing anything further with Warlord who's to say another smaller company won't take an interest in pursuing a licence for it?  Granted, that doesn't mean more Bones/minis in general, but it could mean some new books.

Well, I have some hope, given the current kickstarter for CAV. If Warlord was dead CAV was dead, cold, and decomposed but now there is a kickstarter going to get the minis produced and a promise of a new edition in hardback. So, maybe next year we will see a warlord kickstarter which I think would be better than a Bones III only because it would be more interesting (tons of minis and a game!).

Let's cross our fingers and keep communicating our interest!

I imagine if anything a Warlord KS, done by Reaper, would be just to convert as many units as possible and no include a game rules update.

That being said if you really look you'll find there are TONS of Warlord models already converted over, particularly the cheesy troops.  There is a list around here somewhere...

It would be great if the rule portion is sectioned off to another company (assuming that is what Reaper wants).

As a business owner, I totally understand being pulled in multiple directions at the same time with people telling me "you should really do _____, it would be perfect for your company".  I trust that Reaper knows its strengths and understand where it want to be next year, 5 years from now and perhaps even further into the future.

I also understand how frustrating it can be for eager fans as all we want is to see a progression in a game we love.  Perhaps there is room for some fan based love to build interest and progress the game.

I'd dearly love to see all the old stuff rereleased as PDFs... how much could THAT cost?

As much as I applaud the cost effectiveness of this... I enjoy treasure hunting for the old books.

Rather than releasing the products again for free could we see a comprehensive list of what's been published already?  That would give collectors a kind of checklist we can use as we hunt.

If you can hunt down a copy of the game Dark Heaven: Apocalypse there is  a lot more back story and characters for Taltos.

Found it on ebay (not allowed to link it though).  Apparently that set is rare as hell these days.  The catalog it includes dates back to 1997.   ::o:
