Here's something exciting and new, paint!

 

 

Figured I'd start putting down a black "basecoat" on the stones while waiting for other stuff to dry.

Since I can't spray prime it (and I don't want to use up ALL my brush on primer) I'm basing all the stonework in black craft paint.  The way the plaster is sucking up the paint I'm not sure the 4 oz bottle will be enough!

 

That's enough for tonight.

you could spray the plaster bits with a sealer to help the paint not get absorbed too badly.

Did some actual miniatures painting today, at lunch.

 

 

After another round of base coat touchups and evening out the colours of the base, I tried a wash on the wing.  I think it works, but I'd like some second opinions.

 

I also put a base coat on the head, not that there is much to see....

 

 

Tomorrow I'm out for a work lunch holiday thing, so no painting.  I'm tempted to bring lavarath home and work on getting the other wing and the tail attached before going any further.  Thoughts?

We're up in New Glasgow.  But yep, that's the store!

Didn't get much done today.  Well, I got lots done, just not much was painting related.  Got almost all my Christmas shopping done though.

 

Still managed to get a bit done. More base coating of the wall.

 

Did I ever mention that I made it so the tower comes off?  Necessary for painting, and gives a slightly better storage.travel option, should they be necessary.

 

 

And this is with one coat on all the bricks.  I'll need to do a second pass to get all the cracks and bits that I missed on the first run.

 

I brought the dragon home to put the tail on and the other wing, but was too tired to try it tonight. So instead I got Lavarath's victim ready to paint tomorrow.

Got a good start on our Gnome casualty today.

 

 

Base coat and wash done.  Need to remember to take in a red wash/ink tomorrow for her hair.  Then some highlighting.

 

The evening was spent driving to my parents, loading half a cow into the car, driving back and filling the freezer (but not before putting 3 lovely looking steaks in the fridge for tomorrow later today....didn't realize it was quite so late.....

I'm calling her done.  A quick job, but she's more of an accessory than the main focus.

But realize, this is the FIRST figure I've completed for this diorama....

 

 

Then I did a little work on Kyra.

 

 

I think she's ready for her hand so I've brought her home.

 

I'm pretty tired (3 hours sleep last night) but I'm going to try to get a bit done tonight.
