...is underway! Ha! So far, just concept art. I'm going to try and start the armature today   I'm also going to try a chinese dragon later on, so that's what that drawing is for

Progress!

Looking good.  I especially like the sea serpent.   A couple points for you though on the engineering of these:   1. The wire looks a bit frail to support that much mini.  Might want to go with ei

i don't know how to do any casting haha. I was just thinking he could eventually be cast if I made him properly using Talespinner's excellent advice, but i'll have to remember that advice for the future, because where he's at right now I can't continue him with casting in mind

might look into casting in resin for things eventually, it'd be fun to do i bet

It is fun!  I love it.  Its super satifying to get a good pull out of a mold.  If you ever decide to get into it let me know and I will be happy to help out.  or if you just want your stuff cast I could help too.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'll attempt another sculpt with sculpey at a later date. At least with sculpey it's cheap and I can use as much as I want lol  ::P: but my green stuff is limited and I don't want to spend so much of it on him

Totally makes sense, especially from a monetary standpoint. Maybe just use the head for something, you could add sculpey to it and flesh it out some more I believe.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that Green Stuff reacts to the lower heat required to bake sculpey (275 degrees).

i plan to do bulk sculpey bodies, bake them, and then green stuff detailing. that way I don't use as much green stuff as I am currently

i'll take photos of the sea serpent's final unfinished form and post them here, just to have the final pics of him

I always wanted to paint a Cronosaurus so when Antimatter Games offered on through a Kickstarter I took it.
In hindsight I regret getting the FDM printed version, I should have gone for the resin one since you can clearly see the printlines on this one.
On the other hand it was a good deal and it helped me to choose what kind of printer I wanted.
      This came preprinted

This was one of the first minis I printed.
      It's from Yeggie, Multiverse3DDesigns.

I based the colours on the Egyptian Cobra.

Somewhere deep in the Desert an unholy cult exists.
Here we see one of their priests, reading from a sacred book bound in human flesh, written in a language unknown to Men.
What kind of incantations is he reading?
What unholy abomination is he summoning?

I was inspired by the Coral Snake.
Pics with and without fancy background and with Angelica Fairweather ( Rosetta Salazar in my Project) for size comparison.

This is Vilthiss Snake Champion from Mierce's Banelords Range.
      Resin.
Base is made with a Greenstuffworld Rollerpin some skulls and a few of Ristul's Fantasy Market's resin bugs.

After taking the pics I noticed a little too much purple gums on the upper side of the teeth, it's fixed.
