Phaedros
Hello everyone, pretty new to CAV and wanted to ask "Why should I pledge?", I'm asking because the projected fulfillment date of July 2015 bothers me, I really would like to get on board, but I don't want to wait almost an entire year for my minis as I'm looking to get back into modelling and painting minis. :/
Erifnogard
If you pledge one of the early bird Ace II levels you will receive the core eight sculpts in ~November of this year with the additional unlocks following next year. As you get 4 of each if the core eight sculpts, you will have more than enough CAVs to learn and enjoy the game while waiting for the rest of your mechs. ced1106
It's pretty easy to find a project that takes a year or longer to fulfill, particularly those involving injection molding. Cthulhu Wars funded July 2013, Myth funded April 2013, etc. Reaper's also probably putting in padding so they'll fulfill no later than July 2015, rather than delay past December 2014. The reality is that it's not hard to encounter an unexpected delay of a month or more, such as customs, problem with a mold, not enough eye droppers, project placed at the end of the manufacturer's production queue, etc.. I also find estimated dates useless because a KS project that ships twice or three times as much stuff because it hits a bunch of stretch goals shows the same estimated date as one that doesn't. How can you produce twice as much stuff in the same period of time? The CAV rules will be available online for free soon. Ask for CAV print-and-play tokens so you can play the game while waiting.
smokingwreckage
I'd say grabbing an early bird is the best bet. There were still a couple open last i checked. Beyond that, if the delay to delivery is a deal breaker, just wait for retail. They're still going to be the cheapest mechs around.
