Rescue Mission

Hey all! Second post in a night. Whoo! Okay, well Vanja was my first mini ever, and I've decided I'd like to post my 2nd and 3rd attempts at mini-painting. These are both non-reaper, to my knowledge. They were purchased from the $1 "Box of Misfit Minis" from my local comic store, so I decided to rescue them in an attempt to give them new life. 

 

As I mentioned in my previous topic, I use Amsterdam acrylics (red, yellow, blue, black, white) and mix them. I also have a few metallic craft paints that I use as well (and in the case of the blue dude, I used a bit of nail polish, too.)

 

As always, critiques are welcome!

 

EDIT: I've been informed that the first mini is a Beastman of Chaos from Games Workshop and the dwarf is RAFM. Not sure how to edit tags at this point, but once I do, the info will be updated.

Huh. I don't recognize either of those. I kinda dig the blue goat-guy, though. And you've definitely got drybrushing down.

Drybrushing was made infinitely easier in these attempts with the help of a blow drier. :P

 

Someday I may venture into the other scary dark corners of this forum... but after I get some sleep. I don't want to be caught embarrassing myself with 2am gigglies on my first day registered here.

It's a really cool concept! I may go in and get more, but the pickings are rather slim. Lots of Crossbow guys' little dwarf buddies, as well as broken pieces and another few beastmen/goat dudes. I feel like I'm going to be running a foster home here soon...

I looked in the contest thread and felt instant regret for not getting into the hobby sooner. I'm afraid to look at more now. :P

The Ram-o-Taur is a plastic beastman of chaos from Games Workshop. That specific sculpt is OPP long ago. It is also OOAB (Out Of Army Book) meaning it matches nothing in any current army list. Or at least that was the case last time I checked.

The dwarf is RAFM, but I'm not sure which exact line offhand.  Pretty sure it's one of Bob Murch's scuplts, the cloak has his trademark early style.

Holy cow, awesome! Beastman of Chaos sounds MUCH cooler than Ram-o-Taur! Thanks for getting to me on that one! I really appreciate it!

i really enjoy both paint jobs.  They have very dramatic highlighting and shading.

I like both paint jobs as well.  While different from the style most people post here, I like the use of interesting color choices and strong, bold contrasts.

Awesome paintjobs! I prefer the chaos beastman, but they're both very well done.

 

BTW the dwarf is indeed a RAFM sculpt, it was done for their skirmish game 'Death in the Dark'.
