Doug Sundseth
If it's only about representation, then use folded paper planes to play your games False dichotomy. And if you don't want to be hostile, now would be a good time to stop. Look, I want aircraft at the same scale as mechs, too. But you're doing that cause no favors by OTT arguments.
joshuaslater
I know Vil. I just haven't had a chance to go in and measure every mini. The ones you can just look at and know they are "wrong" is easy. Its all the other ones that it gets squirrelly. Also I wasn't trying to snap at anyone if anyone took it that way. Just trying to make sure we don't get off on another tangent. I'll admit it, it gave me pause for a minute. But y'know, thinking about it...you ought to be proud. Here's a game that's been quiet for years, announced as coming back from the dead just two weeks ago...and people are so excited about it that they're talking scales and taking pictures and taking it upon themselves to screw with it in photoshop to make suggestions on how to solve the accuracy vs aesthetics conundrum...I don't think, for as long as I've been a member here, and as long as I lurked before that, that I've *ever* seen the CAV section this alive. Feels good, dunnit?
Brother Jim
It was announced considerably longer ago than two weeks. The game, not the Kickstarter. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/46818-cav-strike-operations/ This thread by CAVBOSS was started on 13 Dec 2012 after being away from the boards for a year. I'm pretty sure that Strike Ops was announced before that year, but I can't be sure because the board had been wiped clean then. That's not supposed to sound grumpy, but informative. I just wish I wasn't broke and unemployed so I could throw a few hundred dollars of electronic cashy monies at Reaper. I've been waiting for this since the CAV1 days.

CAV:SO was announced in early 2010, sometime before May because that's when I deployed and the announcement was just before that.
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted September 20, 2014 Moderator Share Posted September 20, 2014 My Vote: go with big planes.
Brother Jim
Thanks Sgt Crunch !!11!! I also say keep everything to one scale, but if the aircraft are going to be in a different scale they have to be boldly and clearly marked as such. papabees
Be careful using that pic of the Despot to compare the plane to because that tank may be too small. The Wolverine or Dragoon are probably better examples.
falstius
For modeling it makes sense to be strict about scale, but for a miniatures game with fictional models? How can you complain the scale is wrong for something that doesn't exist? Any way, I want the planes to be roughly the same length as the CAV and if that means labeling them 8mm scale instead of 10mm scale, no problem.
smokingwreckage
How can you complain the scale is wrong for something that doesn't exist? Ah, my young padawan. You have much to learn. Get comfortable, while I tell you the harrowing tale of... THE WHINENING (PS: a dig at the broader geek culture, not youse. Youse is me mates, an' that.)
ijewett
So if all vehicles and CAVs will be correctly scaled to each other. Where are their in universe dimensions listed so that I can figure out approximately what size the final miniatures will be. Thanks in advance.

smokingwreckage
They should make the entire CAV universe smaller and then sell them as "life size mechs"
Jeneki
1:1 scale Scorpion for me please. I want to take that sucker for a test drive downtown.
ijewett
so are we suggesting that Reaper make the planes smaller in-universe so that the miniature can be the same scale? :) No. I am asking what size the In universe tanks are, so that I have some idea how large the models will be when they are rescaled in Bones. That way I know what to add to the Kickstarter for tanks. So far I only know the Despot will be 37mm long. Which is perfect. But the others I have no idea as I do not know their in universe dimensions to be able to calculate their final in production dimensions. I have asked that question and the answer I recieved was 2" +- .5". Since there is a pretty huge difference between 1.5" and 2.5" when representing vehicles I am trying to do the math myself to get a better idea. But I need the actual in universe dimensions to do so.
